It's the same thing every year, he goes on a hot streak and his numbers look much better than his actual production on a night in and night out basis. Just like last year, every month other than may he has a .692 OPS or below. He had a single hot streak this year in May, and it makes him look like an above average hitter. He isnt. He doesnt get on base, and he doesnt hit for nearly enough power to overcome how unbelievably inconsistent he is.
Is that what you think? Glad that is cleared up.

But I'd say a CF makes more sense give Jazz's injury concerns. Bellinger or Bader seems like the best options, go look at the list. Especially Bader as a right handed bat + defender.

I think a Bader, Rosario, Montas, trade Rogers + prospects for a catcher, and trade Scott/Chargois/FV40s non-40 man arms for a comparable to Scott RHP reliever with some control would be a really banging offseason. I'll need to think about who has a catcher to move though.

        Really?

The ENTIRE loss is on Skip, huh?

Nothing to do with going 1 for 97 with RISP or our fucking mentally retarded 3rd base coach thinking that the slowest baseball player in MLB could score from 1st base on a double????

Skip could have let Sandy pitch the 9th and maybe it would have worked out great but there are 10 other guys in the dugout (if you include the 3rd base coach) who are equally to blame.

Sandy also got knocked around pretty good in the 7th (or 8th I can’t recall). But all the hard hit balls were right at our outfielders.

I’m begging you to please stop posting the same thing 3 times a week. WE GET IT!

We will never forget how you feel about DLC because you have told us 240 times how you feel about him.

We don’t love him either. Please stop.

          • This would be my 26-man for 2024

            C: ??????
            1B: Troy Johnston
            2B: Arraez
            3B: Burger
            SS: ???????
            LF: Xavier Edwards
            CF: Jazz
            RF: Sanchez/Garcia
            DH: Bell

Bench: Fortes C, Dane Myers 1B/3B/OF, Berti Utility

            Rotation:

Sandy, Luzardo, Eury, Garrett, Rogers or Cabrera

Bullpen: ??????, Scott, Puk, Nardi, Okert, Lopez, Bender, Soriano or Maldonado

AAA Rotation: Meyer, Weathers, Monteverde, Hoeing, Castano

I would make no big signings in free agency. We suck at it.

One thing we learned from this deadline is Salvador Perez would be willing to waive his no-trade clause to come here. Make it happen in the offseason. He's going to be overpaid. (2 years/$44 million) but his veteran presence at catcher would be invaluable and an obvious offensive upgrade to what we have. That's your big money item. It's only 2 years so it's not an albatross.

Make a deal for a young Shortstop. (Peraza comes to mind immediately) This is the toughest one to pull off, but this is where you use Rogers or Cabrera as bait for a contending team to make this happen.

Deal DLC and others for a legit back of the bullpen arm. That's your 26-man.

            Lineup:

            1. Arraez 2B
            2. Edwards LF
            3. Burger 3B
            4. Jazz CF
            5. Perez C
            6. Bell DH
            7. Johnston 1B
            8. Sanchez/Garcia RF
            9. Young Shortstop

Sandy was cruising all night, there was 0 reason to take him out. If the other team is ecstatic that you are taking a pitcher out, you're making the wrong call. Skip also let Wendle and stallings hit yet again in the bottom of the 8th with a runner in scoring position with jazz on the bench. In the top of the 8th Sandy had a strikeout and 2 ground outs to first, he was absolutely cruising. Yes, the absolutely sucked in the game in key spots, and yet they had an opportunity to get an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th and he let 2 of the worst hitters in the league do what they do best, and then compounded the error by taking out a guy who had given up 1 run over the last 22 innings pitched. He hadnt been touched since the first inning in st louis 2 full starts ago. It was a horrendous move. It's not the only reason they lost, but he certainly made the wrong call every single time he had to make a decision. Wendle and Stallings left a ton of runners on base. We were 2-13 with RISP and they were 0-3. He insists on playing them, and they are fucking awful.

He ended up bringing in Hampson anyway as a defensive replacement. So why not have Hampson pinch-hit for Stallings, then bring Fortes in for Sanchez as the defensive replacement instead of Hampson/Sanchez.

they also had jazz on the bench. Not saying those guys would have 100% gotten hits, but Skip absolutely put the team in a worse position to win with every decision he made last night.

                        • Not using Jazz in the 8th and what Nick said is absolutely questionable but there’s SO much blame to go around for last night. That cunt who ran on the field while Robertson was finishing his warm up didn’t help either. Closers have a routine and I suspect that some asshole running around on the field got him out of his routine a little.

that idiot was actually dumb enough to post the video of him doing that on social media today.

Salvador has .1 WAR in 400 PA - he may be cooked. I agree finding a catcher is problematic.

To quib, if Sanchez/Garcia are both on the team that's 14 guys and wouldn't have room for that extra 1B/3B/OF (I do think positions would be covered with your insertion of Dane there so that's OK to me) and it is also 14 arms but that's easy with one of the last 3 RP going to AAA as they all have options.

Substantively, that is also A LOT of faith in Johnston, Edwards, and Myers there, especially if it is a young SS and/or C. I can't see them turnover over effectively 2,000-2,5000 PA to that much youth.

I'd say if you don't trust them to sign major bats at all and/or Bruce is cheap, maybe it's signing pitching. They could trade one of Rogers/Garrett/Cabrera and all of DLC/Fulton/Chargois for a C and SS, and sign a # 4 SP, Closer/high leverage RHP reliever, and platoon right handed OF and call it an offseason pretty quickly.
