  • Fangraphs has the Marlins at #19 on their updated (after they acquired Robertson) MLB Power Rankings.

I’d love for Miami to shove it up Fangraphs ass.

We’ll definitely know a lot more post Phillies series and post deadline

Didn't he get sort of hurt the other day? Could just be precautionary.

All those power lists were extremely slow to bump us up when we were 14 over, and dropped us like light speed the second we lost 8 in a row.

yes, but he played the next game, and has now been benched for the last 3. Maybe it is related to the injury but i have to think he is being discussed in trades and this is precautionary

Well, I also thought him being back the next game was quick given the potential injury - wasn't it something with his neck?

His expected slash right now is .276/.338/.495, with glorious hard hit rates. He's pacing as a 2 WAR player with this 'underachieving' .257/.319/.468 slash (and likely performing below expectations defensively). I would frankly be shocked if they moved him as this is their type in a slugger to me, and plays up against right handers on top of that. They have him for 4 more years after this. They probably have an insane valuation on him so this is a MAJOR player coming back if they move him. That would be really really interesting to me with a lot of moving parts.

Also, he has 1.118 service days entering this season. Didn't notice that before he was mere days after from a super 2 calculation. "Oooops, they did it again."

                • it is abundantly clear they are trying to acquire either a 2b or 3b to move arraez to 1b and potentially Segura to 2b if they get a 3b. New report just came out that we are listening to offers on cooper. I'd be shocked if he is on the team come tomorrow nights game. should be a fun ass 26 hours to the deadline.

What's the offer on Cooper - we'll pay his entire salary above minimum and give us our third choice of FV40 prospects from your system?

This all sounds accurate to me

id take a middle relief righty and a bag of baseballs. Cooper kind of stinks. If you can get anything for him id do it. The guy is a walking illness and injury. If they keep him as a bench bat id be fine with it but he should not be starting and in the heart of the lineup every day.

He won't bring back a MLB middle reliever better than what they have, but maybe another A+ type not for the 40 man next year. Which TBH is fine. Who cares.

Civale got a FV50, so Rogers is worth at least that with the extra year of control assuming deemed fine longterm health wise. Rogers and Cappe+Fulton should each net a very good player with control basically. No excuses Kim.

                          • Wonder if something weird with the Guardians would work here.

They have Naylor and Manzardo now, definitely don't want to play them in the field much if possible beyond 1B.

They could use a stop-gap 2B/SS type and a SP to bridge to Quantrill/McKenzie getting healthy and help Arias/Freeman

Josh Bell makes $16.5 million next year and call it $5m the rest of this season..... $21.5m

Segura makes $10.5 million next year (with buyout) and call it $2.5m rest of this season...... and..... Cueto is owed about $5m here on out w/ buyout..... $19m. Guardians basically get out of the money faster and take two bets one veteran regains form.

I'd take this bet Bell regains form for a nominal salary add here, and then the kicker as to why they will actually do this, and this is going to be maybe unpopular but IDGAF - throw in Garrett and take Rocchio back. Immediately call up Rocchio to take over SS. Throw them Nasim also to get them another option in a few years. They can live with a Gimenez, Ramirez, Freeman, Segura, and Arias 2B/SS/3B situation getting a longterm SP to add to their guys and help right now. Maybe it's Amaya and not Nasim also but who cares there.

Marlins will need a SP at the deadline ASAP, but all of a sudden Garrett, Segura, Cueto, and Nasim/Amaya turned into Josh Bell and Bryan Rocchio real quick and the math works out. A long term SS. A thing of dreams. I really like Rocchio. He is ready and look at those whiffs. They'll be terrors with Arraez, Rocchio, and Edwards eventually - https://www.fangraphs.com/players/br...position=3B/SS

                            Fortes, Stallings
                            J. Bell, Cooper/Yuli survivor or Myers/Edwards
                            Berti, Wendle
                            Rocchio
                            ___________
                            DLC, Soler
                            Jazz
                            Sanchez, Garcia/Myers/Edwards

                            Sandy, Luzardo, Eury, Cabrera, _____
                            Lopez, Chargois, Brazoban
                            Scott, Puk, Okert, Nardi

Still have - Rogers, Eder, Meyer, Fulton, all major hitting prospects

And those blanks lines are Candelario and Flaherty, and clearly room to make another move as they could turn Wendle into a RP quickly and call up Edwards there, and there is other prospect inventory to get a backup catcher and another RP if needed (cheaper ones).

LFG Kim. Time to be creative and pick up phones.

                              • We’re not getting Candelario.

This lineup we have now is our offense for the rest of the season, isn’t it?
