I think banfield is still just going to be a guy who cant hit big league pitching though given how often he is still striking out and how little he walks. Good to see some power from him finally though.
Fangraphs says a third catcher, which TBH, isn't necessarily a bad thing to have in AAA for 3 option years so the team isn't doing this revolving door of Lavarnaways or Heinemans

wow that's way higher on cappe than i think of him. If he has that kind of value im all for dealing him. And eder's last start was encouraging so he looks like he's getting rid of the rust and our most valuable currently healthy trade asset in the system. I'm cool using both of them as trade pieces for lineup help for the stretch run.

His OPS is right around .750 in 441 PAs, his k-rate is 22.6% in AA, which isn't great but not catastrophic either. If his defense is as advertised, I think he's now a guy that needs to be 40-man protected.
100% protected on 40 man absent a move for someone else. 22% is also good with the reliever waves even in the minors these days.

This organization pulls catchers out of their ass (Realmuto, Barnes, Nola, Fortes). Athletic late bloomers. Park him in AA next year and see if he can climb to AAA mid season. They still need to get an upgrade to Fortes or Stallings next year in all likelihood, but McIntosh, Banfield, Mack, and I guess Aldermann does become a top 4 level pipeline you don't really hate, especially if they add some AAAA guy again to play in AAA. Allen doesn't appear to be working out, but take another swing on someone similar, etc.

            • The Astros just traded Korey Lee (a catching prospect we apparently had interest in) for Kendall Graveman.

                • trevor rogers is still not throwing according to the latest injury update. He's not coming back this year in all likelihood. Nardi throwing another inning tonight. At the very least he will be back for the phillies series. jazz did a full on field workout. id imagine he does 3-4 games in jacksonville and is back late next week. Garcia is hitting well in his rehab and is playing all 9 innings tonight, so he is going to force them to make a decision at some point. Max meyer is continuing with his rehab program so hopefully that doctors visit went well.

                  • jesus sanchez back in the lineup tonight. not sure what the fuck happened last game but that's a good sign. Cooper not playing after an off day, and it's a righty on the mound.... he's gone i think by tuesday

                    • Ya if Max is already throwing that’s a real good sign.
Losing Trevor essentially all season really sucks.

                      • skip pretty much just came out and said robertson is the closer now without officially saying it. he said robertson will see late innings, and "probably the latest". If so, they will get 1 more righty reliever

                          • I’d guess our win probability tonight is around 60-65%

                            we’re a 150ish favorite

                            • Wow, White Sox traded Graveman for a FV50 catcher from Astros. Graveman is signed next year and throwing like an asshole.

Something like Gallegos is costing Cappe/Watson based off this easily as K. Lee (the catcher) is equally as risky as them, maybe another FV40 would be needed as Gallegos is better. Astros really liked Lee for the defense in a ying/yang with Y. Diaz. I have Astros friends who are really surprised on this one.

This is going to be an extremely expensive deadline.
