  • Soler hit a ball 110 MPH last night right at the CF. Joey Wendle had a 400 foot out. Cabrera’s bad inning started with 2 bloop hits and then he walked the 9th hitter on 5 pitches.

    it’s July 2023 Marlins baseball.

    • now morosi confirming we are in on bellinger. perfect addition to CF. If we get him, it would mean clearly the cubs are sellers, and clearly yan gomes could be had as well. It would make 0 sense not to go for him as well. Go get candelario as well and please just fucking go for it.

      C- Gomes
      1b- Arraez
      2b- Segura
      SS- Berti
      3b- Candelario
      LF- DLC
      CF- Bellinger
      RF- Sanchez
      DH- Soler

Not sure what they do with jazz then, but if they insist on him being in CF, Bellinger to LF and DLC getting less action or splitting time with Sanchez makes a lot of sense. That team is so much fucking better. I cannot see Stallings, Fortes, Wendle, and Cooper in this lineup anymore. I just cant do it. That team has so much more run producing potential it's not even funny. The deadline is obviously about getting some impact talent, but they just need to flatly have a more competent bottom of the lineup as well. Making those moves does both by pushing guys like DLC and Sanchez further down the lineup. If you have those guys in the heart of your lineup you suck offensively. IF they are in the bottom of your order, that you can deal with and succeed with. You cant score runs with Jazz out and Soler not on one of his hot streaks when you have Wendle, Berti, Segura, and Stallings/Fortes in the bottom of the lineup, combined with DLC and Cooper hitting in the heart of the lineup as well. It's just too much to overcome.

Or now that i think of it, Bellinger plays first, so jazz can slot in at CF and bellinger plays first when jazz gets back. Getting candelario and Gomes as well would really move the needle though.

      • 5-9 today is gurriel, wendle, berti, stallings, and myers. Just bad. they are going to wait until the last possible second to make a single move and it is going to cost them a playoff spot.

i know it's a joke, but the rays are so well run that they can have an overall low payroll and make additions like this every year. Thats the benefit of signing studs early. They for years have signed guys like Morton, this past year it was Eflin, and made trades at the deadline while still maintaining a dirt cheap payroll. Must be nice to see an ownership group with a plan even if they still suck. They also have better system than us if the white sox are eating money.

I say don't worry about what to do with Jazz until he's actually back, which seems to be never.

                • i just cannot deal with DLC hitting 3rd anymore. The dude is so thoroughly mediocre it hurts. He had a good month of may and the other 3 months he has been between a .664 OPS and .692. Him and Cooper consistently hitting 3rd and 5th is just a nightmare

I don’t know what that was, but it looked kind of scary.

                        • DLC should probably DH a little more because he actually sucks defensively in the outfield.

when i saw the replay it looked like the classic example of stepping on the base the wrong way and twisting his knee. Hopefully its something minor but that did not look good at all.

as i said all offseason, he's not particularly good at anything. He's a decent hitter who has wild swings of production. He's had a single good month this year and been well below average the other 3. He did the same thing last year. He was terrible all year and then had 1 good month to make his numbers a lot better than he actually is. He is a .740-.750 OPs guy who brings nothing else to the table in any other aspect of the game. He is a 4th OF. I made the mistake of saying he broke out when he was just in 1 of his few hot streaks and not actually all that good.
