Flaherty doesn’t do much for me. He’s been injured and just bad for many years now. As a 5 I guess he’s fine but they can do better. Montgomery with Carlson is perfect. If they can then find a way to get Kim and a reliever from the Padres that’s a hell of a deadline

Edman is Kim with more control and CF ability.
If you can get Edman, Carlson, Flaherty/Montgomery, and Hicks from the Cardinals without moving a MLB SP, which I think is very possible in an Eder, Cappe, Fulton/Monteverde, Vargas, Amaya, Mesa Jr., and FV40 arms kind of way, I think that's a good deal for everyone. They'd look really good.
Contreras, Knizner/Herrera
Goldschmidt
Gorman, Donovan
DeJong, Amaya (Winn coming fast)
Arenado
Walker, Burleson
Nootbar
______, O'Neil
Mikolas, ______, Liberatore, Matz, ________
Gallegos, Helsley, Naughton Pallante, Romero, ___, ____, _____ < --- Those FV40 Marlins arms are useful here big time, plus they still have Flaherty/Montgomery to trade, ___, _____
with five SP type guys coming quick --- > Hence, Graffeco, Eder, McGreevy, Fulton/Monteverde
All of free agency is going to pitchers and maybe the other of Flaherty. That's a platoon bat outfielder and would be cheap for them, if they don't just keep someone like Yepez on the roster as is. We'd really like that team above. It's just missing an ace, but the pitching may hit you in waves when those 5 guys get called up.
Smart business for the Cardinals to get some arms here. They don't need these guys. Marlins should pounce. They match up well, and as said, could supercharge it with Eury or Luzardo if they do want to go insane and shoot for Walker or Nootbar to really go for it.

Zips midseason - https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-zips...ndings-update/
TLDR
Atlanta (98 wins) Guaranteed - Probably Milwaukee (83) but who knows - Dodgers (92) more than likely
Wild Card Chances
75% D Backs (89)
70% Giants (89)
50% Marlins (86), Phillies (86)
30% Padres (83)
25% Mets (83)
Their odds say 87 wins probably does it, but 88-89 statistically much safer.
88 wins is playing .500 here on out
Marlins 4th hardest SOS rest of the year. Philly 19th - https://www.tankathon.com/mlb/remain...edule_strength
I think they should add a collection of guys who are pacing 5+ WAR on the season floor (so theoretically a 2-3 win improvement), and more if a real MLB contributor is shipped out. Then pray Jazz, Rogers, and Cabrera come back strong and Sandy just decides to win 80% of his games himself.
