It felt that it was going to happen. On one hand, it's good for baseball, and for the Marlins to see a small market team sign a player like that to a long term deal. Time to move on to the Cardinals for a corner OF, unless there's a SS out there.
Cardinals also have a SS to move - https://www.fangraphs.com/players/ma...ts?position=SS. It's not a this year move, but they could really supercharge the Cardinals for a stretch run. Edman is good and maybe DeJong is healthy. They can cover 2B longterm with Donovan + Gorman. I think Winn is expendable for them for a young pitcher. I think a smart move for the Marlins would be Burleson + Winn. I assume they will go forward with Walker-Carlson-Nootbar, and O'Neill is a win now guy closer to free agency. That's really good for a contender with Goldy-Gorman/Donovan-Edman-Arenado in the infield. DeJong and Yepez on the bench.
Effectively a FV50 and FV45 prospect so it would be trading for Cappe/Eder and Fulton level value. They'd probably love Rogers and Garrett and maybe the Marlins get a few more prospects in that deal. And not sure we care about losing those two arms if...... Sandy, Luzardo, Eury, Eder/Fulton, and Cabrera/Meyer is then penciled in and the bullpen is totally full as they'll probably have traded Floro, Scott, Okert, Cooper, and Soler for stuff at the deadline.
Fortes, McIntosh
TBD
Arraez, Berti/Edwards
Winn, Amaya
Segura, Groshans/Edwards
Burleson, DLC
Jazz
Garcia/Burdick
There would be money to spend even if that means dumping Garcia, such as Rhys Hoskins for 1B and just resigning Soler/Teoscar/other OF/DH stick. They'd have all 13 pitchers ready to go internally for sure absent major injuries, and ideally Cappe (Segura), Edwards (Berti), and Mack (McIntosh/Fortes) are internal replacements soon so this is a really smart and impactful depth chart. With longterm Arraez and Jazz extensions the missing things theoretically.
Just saying - go Cards and especially Paul DeJong hitting.

Maybe Nasim vs RHP and Amaya vs LHP is the plan (they are both high splits guys in minors), and just to do what Nick suggested, they just sign some sluggers like Teoscar to make up some thump.
