i know that 18 pitches over the course of 2 games isnt enough to make someone completely off limits. he threw 18 pitches on april 11th and pitched the next day, let alone 18 pitches over 2 days. he wasnt in any kind of stress either of the last 2 nights. you dont blow a game blatantly because of 18 pitches over 2 days when the option is this fucking clown on the mound right now

But Smeltzer does appear to be horrible. We can be mad at that while not calling out a literal brilliant bullpen usage the last few games up to this point.

also, what the fuck is ng doing with this guy up here still. okert was ready to return last friday. he's thrown 5.2 scoreless innings with 11 k's in AAA. why the fuck would you guarantee smeltzer any money and why would you keep him up here when he clearly sucks when okert is ready and has been for a week. and worse, they will compound it by keeping this clown up here because they stupidly guaranteed him money.

smeltzer has given up 4 hr's in 5 fucking innings. in spring he had a 15 era with 4 hr's in 4.2 innings as well. there cannot possibly be a single person in the front office who has seen anything he has done since spring started and thought he belongs up here. To guarantee him a million and for that now to be losing games for us with them clearly not bringing okert up here because they arent going to send him down because of the guarantee is the height of mismanagement. DFA him.
