    • Great job by Cabrera to settle in. Not sure what goes on in the first inning with him but good job to bounce back

      • Avisail Garcia is impossibly bad. What the fuck are they going to do with him until his contract is done. He is unplayable

        • 2 games over!!! Let’s go. Puk is amazing. Sweep these guys tomorrow

          • 43 wins left if we are to win 53 games this year. Would have to go 43-101 the rest of the way

            • HUGH win

              • Huge game for Cabrera both bouncing back from the two-run first, and going 6 innings.

                • All of a sudden the pitching matchups moving forward for tomorrow and the next series are looking good. We do face Bieber in Cleveland, but it’s against sandy. Tomorrow is a big one.

                  • Just as everyone had it before the season, we are 10-8 through 18 with 3 of the 8 losses coming in sandy starts

                    • Cabrera was great. Jazz looks much better in Center as of late.

His jumps have been unbelievable in center.

                        • If they continue to play well and hang in the hunt deeper into the year and garcia continues to be unplayable, i would begin to be very tempted to dangle eury for reynolds if his contract talks continue to be at a stalemate. It would be hard to lose him, but reynolds in this lineup i think makes us a legit contender as long as we dont have a rash of devastating injuries. it would also be contingent upon us immediately signing him to a big extension because no deal would make sense without that.

The reason i say eury as opposed to a guy like Cabrera is because i dont think eury can contribute much this year and realistically would still be super raw next year. It would hurt to see him go, but they have a really good top 4 and even top 5 right now, plus they still have meyer, fulton, eder, and miller in the cards in future years. Reynolds would be an immediate star added to this lineup. SS would still be fairly mediocre, but adding reynolds to arraez, the good version of Soler, Jazz, Cooper, eventually Segura will turn it around, and hopefully DLC breaks out, that can be a winning lineup with a pitching staff this good. Just move DLC to RF and you can trot out a lineup of:

                          Jazz
                          Cooper
                          Arraez
                          Reynolds
                          Soler
                          DLC
                          Segura
                          Fortes
                          Berti

With a rotation of Sandy, Luzardo, Cabrera, Rogers, Garrett, Cueto, plus reinforcements hopefully next year in the form of Sixto, Eder, Meyer, Fulton, and then eventually miller who has looked great. That would be super tempting to me. Reynolds is having an unbelievable start to the year, adding his bat to this lineup might be the finishing piece toward a contender, though it is a lot of lefties with jazz, arraez, and reynolds being your 3 best hitters.

If they can do it without eury or any of the current rotation pieces that would obviously be the ideal trade, but not sure the pirates would want quantity over quality. but if they would, fuck it, give them meyer, eder, watson, berry, miller. Whatever the fuck they want. That's the best of both worlds. You dont detract from the current team, but also keep the future front line guy like eury to add next year and beyond.

OR, the internal move before that is to bring burdick up and replace garcia's starting ab's with a pure platoon of sanchez and burdick. I think that would produce a really nice OPS combined if used properly.

                          • the bottom of the order has been bad, but our top spots in the lineup have been among the best in baseball by OPS. I think our 1-4 is 4th in baseball in OPS from a stat i saw yesterday. Jazz is now at .744. Cooper at .870, Soler at .972 on pace for 45 hr's, and arraez obviously has been crazy good at 1.118. If segura can get it going soon it would really boost the bottom of the order.

This is quite the shift in opinion on Reynolds. And they would definitely need more than just him. Don't have rose colored glasses just because the team has had a 10-8 start. 5-0 in 1 run games could be 7-11 very quickly. But I'm only moving Eury for a stud play-now SS. Reynolds is great, but I'd shoot for the Meyer, Eder, Watson/Cappe package for him (which frankly should be enough) and keep Eury to be respective of the super-ace upside. If you go back 7 years of all guys who have reached a FV65 on fangraphs at any point, it's a 45% superstar rate (Yordan, Vlad, Rustchman, Ohtani, Wander, etc.), 8% looks good with insane upside (Gunnar), 16% whatever solid MLB players (Moncada types), 16% bust (V. Robles types), and 20% TBDs and they haven't made it yet (Grayson, Eury, F. Alvarez, etc.). Eury effectively has a 60% chance of probably being special (as some of those TBD guys are going to kick ass), and over a 75% chance of being very useful, and that's hard compared to a $110-120m contract for effectively a LF.

Basically, there are plenty of OF out there (Adam Duvall types) -if- Jazz is now a permanent good enough CF. They have lots of OF hope all around and veteran types at the deadline. Reynolds is good, but some 51-100 top prospects with reliever risk and positional-not-a-SS risk seem more appropriate. Gotta get one of them for Eury and I have no idea who that player is. Maybe it's Gunnar Henderson and Balt is fine waiting on Jackson Holliday for 2 years, with other components going back and forth as Baltimore could use a second major pitcher on top of that and the Marlins can easily handle that. Like Gunnar/Santander (who the Marlins have tried to trade for before and theoretically upgrades the OF), for Eury, Eder, Wendle, and Simpson, etc. Totally insane type trades for Eury and Baltimore will have needed to fall out and they don't look bad today.

Also if you are going to move Eury, signing Luzardo is a precondition for me. Hunter Greene just got paid. Luzardo is a 5/$50m extension easily with likely the Marlins being able to tac on 1-2 very expensive options on the back. 5/$50 and could be 7/$100 sort of thing. I'd want to really lock in Sandy, Luzardo, Cabrera, and Eury together for 5+ years, and they have all sorts of obvious guys to mix in with them. Even better if Rogers realigns this year and he gets extended after this season.

if they can get reynolds for a package of mid tier top prospects absolutely, but i highly doubt they would move him without luzardo or cabrera and i wouldnt do that. IF they can get him for Meyer/Eder/Fulton/Watson/Berry, you do that in a heartbeat and look back in 5 years and laugh when most of them dont pan out. I dont disagree that SS is the biggest need, but because they didnt sign 1, there doesnt appear to be 1 readily available via trade. At least a proven one under team control. To me, SS will have to be an internal upgrade from someone that pans out like Edwards (more of a 2b), Watson, Nunez, Lewis, Groshans, Cappe (more of a 3b). Reynolds makes this team a contender immediately if you dont give up any of the current rotation pieces. And i think he is good enough of a player at this point to justify eury if it's just eury and maybe 1-2 minor additions to that trade. I'd still be comfortable with the SP in the future with Sandy, Luzardo (absolutely need to sign him soon), Cabrera (i think he develops the command and turns into a 2) rogers (looks to be much improved over last year), and Garrett plus the upper minors guys like Eder, Meyer, Fulton, etc.

Depending on the trade, reynolds can push them to a playoff team this year. They should go for it and try for a depth package, but if it's Eury, im fine with it, even if he will be a great pitcher one day. It's the price they will have to pay for failing to develop any hitters.

If you do that trade and sign extensions, we have the long term sustainable core that we started this rebuild trying to develop in the first place. Sandy is under control, then they should pay Arraez, Luzardo, and Reynolds, and maybe wait on Jazz till the offseason. That's a hell of a core moving forward. Whether it's SS
