Maybe you’re right, but I’m not sure how you can be so confident they win 70 to be honest.

It was 50% me just wanting to shut him up about declaring it a lost season 5 games into a 162 game season.

The other 50% is, yes, we stink but we are starting out cold and playing good teams and we’re still gonna win more than 70 (or land on 70 at the very least) and I feel strongly my money will be on the right side.

The only way you can lose that bet is a large combination of injuries, trade deadline sell off and winging it to the kids, and atrocious 1 run luck again. Maybe that happens, but kneejerk reactions over 1-4 is laughable. The Mets are going to go 1-4 in a 5 game stretch this season too.

their refusal to spend small amounts of money to improve the bullpen is so ridiculous. Nardi is terrible. Lindgren is not a major leaguer. These are september call up level talents. The fact they are pitching game 5 of a season and there are really no legitimate bullpen arm options behind them is a disgrace.

So far Schumaker making decisions like Donnie. Why is Stallings playing two days in a row? And he’s almost certainly going to start again tomorrow with Sandy pitching.

But a better bullpen and an elite lead off hitter. And I disagree the starting pitching is worse

We’re 4 games in. The first 6 weeks of the season are rough opponent wise.

The bullpen should be better, but it’s going to have to prove that. Arraez has been fantastic, but he can get a hit every AB and it won’t matter if they can’t drive him in.

As for the SP, we’ll see. Hopefully Cabrera and Rodgers will be better, but if Sandy regresses at all from an outstanding season, that probably means the SP production goes down with Pablo gone.

Maybe this is premature, and just an emotional reaction, but it just feels like this team is once again awful, with no hope for them to get things straightened out with this ownership group and this GM.
