Stallings needs to be the backup. Fortes can legitimately hit

Also I keep saying this, but Arraez is tremendous. Might be the best lead off hitter in franchise history other than when Hanley was leading off before moving to the heart of the lineup

and another hit as I type this. Lee, learning why the Pablo trade was phenomenal yet?

Way too early to make any definitive proclamations, but this team just feels like it has a little more pop this year. Obviously soler and jazz being healthy goes a long way

All 3 starters so far have walked too many and should get it corrected, but the Mets lineup is incredibly patient and have great eyes, specifically the top with nimmo lindor mcneil and Alonso. Feels like every at bat with nimmo has been like 6-7 pitches

On my eye test, Jeff McNeil is the luckiest hitter in MLB

Really enjoy our cleanup hitter and his .000 average.

I would say it’s going to be a long year, but that’s basically every year when you’re a Marlins fan.

                This team still stinks.

Looks like they’ll be basically the same team as last year, but with worse defense, and maybe worse starting pitching.

I’m not sure why I let this team make me as angry as they do, but here we are again with an unserious franchise.

Being a Marlins fan is pain.

Did you not watch the 1st series ? 7 runs in 4 games..... pitiful

mc523 thinks they'll be better (God knows why)....they're mostly healthy right now...didn't look improved to me...if it smells like a turd and plays like a turd, it's probably a turd.

                          .
But a better bullpen and an elite lead off hitter. And I disagree the starting pitching is worse

We’re 4 games in. The first 6 weeks of the season are rough opponent wise.

Don’t get me wrong, today was an absolute dog shit performance by the Marlins. Perhaps they won’t go 4 for 27 with RISP and will field routine ground balls.

But we knew that coming in - the improvement is going to be mostly regression to the mean on injuries/1 run luck.

I don't think we need to have a knee jerk reaction on a SSS. For instance, these are the Marlins/Mets slashes for the series:

Mets - .223/.333/.354, 17 Runs, 3 HR (8 more walks, same amount of hits for the OBP)
                              Marlins - .228/.290/.386, 8 Runs, 4 HR

It's not like the Mets were real killers out there, and they are a top 5 team in baseball (on paper). These things are going to happen. We'll know in a few weeks. But yes, I share in the anger as getting a huge bat was an obvious move and they didn't do it. With 4 major SS available. Unserious until they do the "Werth" move for sure.

agreed. It was tough to watch but the mets are also a tremendous team. The top of their lineup is so fucking good they gave our pitchers fits and even worse, worked the count so well they drove the pitch counts up for Luzardo, Sandy, and Cabrera. Rogers was just bad yesterday and the stupid errors compounded it, though he did settle in before the hr to pham. The SP will be better, and the lineup will be better but still so painful to watch. You just cant have an every day lineup with garcia and Wendle in it, especially on days where Stallings also plays. They needed improvements on those guys and they just completely failed. Arraez was an amazing addition though. they just needed and obviously still need at least 1, preferably 2 more middle of the order bats. Soler looking good is a good sign that this is one of his good years, but the lack of more run producing middle of the order bats is just so painfully obvious.

On a side note, watching guys the loria era just gave away for nothing while we have needed a bunch of hitters for years is infuriating. Mark Canha is the latest example. The guy did nothing but hit in our minor league system, we let him go i think off waivers to Oakland for nothing, and he predictably continued to hit. Overall, each guy leaving isnt the biggest thing to worry about, but when it's numerous guys the impact we could have had hurts.
