All of us (well except maybe one guy) knew this wouldn’t be an easy sweep or series win over the D’Backs (especially after seeing they had a had a soft tossing starter today).

But here we are: one Elisier Hernandez start away from getting swept at home by Arizona.

it’d be a very Marlins thing to lose with Rogers and Pablo on the mound and win the game with Elisier

there is no excuse for him being in the rotation with Meyer clearly ready. just no excuse whatsoever. If hernandez makes another start it's a disgrace. I think this is it for Hernandez though hopefully. It's not like its borderline for Meyer, he is just so clearly ready from his first start. Not saying there wont be a bump or two in the beginning but he is a major league rotation guy clearly already.

Varsho who hit the HR is another young C they could have gone after to improve the offense instead of Stallings. It's cool they spent money and looked to improve the offense, but the moves they made to do so are maddening

new BA top 100 list has Meyer at 43, Eury at 44, Watson at 61, Cabrera at 68. Not many changes from their preseason list but their midseason list will have a lot of new faces because there are quite a number of guys they included who will lose "prospect" eligibility very soon

aguilar has turned it around. he needs to slug more but he has bounced back really nicely from a horrendous start. it will take a while for his overall numbers to bounce back but he's hitting .263, .366 OBP, and putting together the quality AB's he's shown the last few years. need more power though. Same with Anderson. Both should be hitting above Soler and Garcia for the time being.

agreed. but getting swept by the Diamondbacks is like reason 20 on the list of why Mattingly deserves to get fired. I've said it a ton but he's a tremendous guy to have as a bench coach, but he's a terrible manager. He was the perfect rebuilding manager, but now that we are trying to win they need to find a guy who is a great in game manager. Mattingly's in game decisions are just horrendous night after night.

And aguilar immediately homers in his next AB. he looks back. if they can just get anything from soler or garcia we can string together some wins but as of now they along with mattingly's in game decisions are killing the team. Another 0-fer for solar again today. I don't understand how he can still be hitting in the 3 hole. Him and garcia need to be 6th or lower. they continuously come up in big spots and are not only getting hits, but the at bats are horrific.

the fact that jazz hit 6th today and soler 3rd is just such overmanagement. I'm so sick of the way they are dealing with jazz against lefties. he's your best fucking hitter. he does something electric every god damn game. why on earth are you hitting him 6th

garcia is such garbage. he's incredibly lucky jazz scored on a not so wild pitch. just another terrible, putrid at bat. How any baseball professional could have thought that this was a good signing for this team is beyond me.
