If the noise about ownership getting restless, and wanting to compete now is true, and especially the part Mish keeps saying about not being ok with a slow start again, I could see them pulling the trigger. This team wasn't built to compete regardless of whether they deluded themselves into thinking they were, but there has to be a scapegoat, and Mattingly hasn't done himself any favors. They won't fire Ng because she's still so new, and the optics of firing the first female GM in professional sports (especially that quickly) would be bad. So I could totally see them dumping Mattingly if they continue to lose. Hopefully if they do that, they'll hire a forward thinking manager that isn't stuck on the BS dinosaur way of thinking that Mattingly is.

As much as I think Mattingly should be gone, a new Manager isn’t going to magically turn this roster into playoff caliber.

peyton burdick with another homer and a double today. he might not be in AAA for long. he's already 24 or 25. same with watson in jupiter. He's gonna be a top 10 prospect in baseball come the midseason lists.

Burdick continues to be better than Bleday at every level.

He reminds me a lot of Dan Uggla. A stocky guy who will K a fair amount and wont have a great BA but will put up decent OBP and good power #s. And yea he is 25.

He reminds me of Bader/O'neill with the cards. He seems like he can flat out hit. I wouldn't mind a pure platoon of whoever is hot between cooper and aguilar at 1b, Sanchez in LF, Burdick in CF, Garcia in RF, and then Soler at DH. You'd have Anderson/Wendle and cooper/aguilar as bats off the bench.

Josh Willingham is the former marlin who comes to mind when I think of a comp for burdick.

BTW I would love to see them return to the 2002 to 2011 unis. Just turn the F into an M. But those pinstripes were so classy.

While this rebrand was better than the 2012, they still arent great.

Not brutal at all. I was there. Those are aren’t Loria made up #’s. The lines for food and drinks told the real story.

That was a really fun final 6 innings to be at the ballpark for.

I would have been totally ok with us blowing them out as opposed to our 5th one run game of the season but the good guys won in the end.

You know what I was thinking would be fun? To put a bit of hockey into things. When a Marlin hits a homerun, blow an air horn and play a song while a video of said player plays on the scoreboard.
