We’ll get another bat or two that we won’t be able to develop, and then we’ll be left with more mediocrity in the rotation.

Other than Jazz, every young hitter has gotten worse here. Jesus Sanchez has been absolutely awful, we just never talk about it because there are 7 other guys in the lineup we should get rid of first.
    So we kill ourselves?

that's not a smart way to look at it. If you cant trust the front office to trade a huge asset SP into good bats, that's a front office problem that ownership needs to address. that doesn't mean you don't make the move at all.

      • this season is entirely on sherman. I get Ng is gonna be the fall lady, but if you think shed rather spend 70 million as opposed to 170 million, you're nuts. She's being hamstrung by the worst owner in baseball. This fanbase is being hamstrung by the worst owner in baseball yet again. How do you spend 1.2 billion or whatever it was to buy a baseball team with no intention of spending money or doing literally anything to make this team good. Why even waste your time and every marlins fans time?

If Ng had the resources, you don't think shes addressing the bullpen in the offseason or at the very least, within a month of the year starting and seeing that the bullpen is complete trash? You might not agree with her moves so far, but shes not dumb.

You’re being far too lenient with Ng. Her FA and trade targets have been largely terrible - some bright spots (Wendle) but overall terrible. there were plenty of options in the price range she did spend that have been far better than those that she did acquire/sign. (I.e Correa instead of money pits of Garcia/Soler.). Plenty of affordable bullpen targets too. So to gloss over her work as if she did everything perfectly and it’s solely that she didn’t have enough to spend isn’t true either.

          • Ng's solo saving grace in my eyes is that I surmised that she wasn't really involved in player/personnel decisions. After all, there is no evidence that she previously had any experience with player evaluation. However, as the top dog in the front office, she certainly can't list any more positives than what has been reported as a team friendly contract with Alcantara.

I believe she was previously an AGM, so I don’t know if it’s accurate to say she had no experience in evaluation.

and I highly doubt she’s been a puppet GM this whole time. That news would’ve been everywhere, especially since it’s the marlins - “Marlins hire first female GM only for optics, she has no say”. That thought also hives with the fact I mentioned above of the bizarre moves occurring before and after others were around her.

I would rather trade one of the lesser pitchers for a bat. If they’re good at finding value, they’d be able to do that.

If we’re trading an obvious value guy, I would actually rather trade Meyer, but I’m probably alone in that thinking. We’re likely to get a better bat for Meyer than Pablo anyway.

in what world would we be more likely to get a better bat for Meyer, a guy who hasn't pitched in the big leagues yet, than a guy who has been great for going on 3 years now? He needs to stay healthy and prove he can but he's an all star level pitcher with 2 years left after this year under team control

                        • We scored runs! Should definitely be buyers now. I thought that was gonna be Garcia down on 3 pitches yet again

                            • This team is impossible to root for. Not even gonna watch the end of this game. Don’t care if they win or how they win, this team is a complete chore to watch other than when sandy is watching. Like watching paint dry
