But I think its also fair to say that injuries have once again hurt a lineup that really had no room for error to begin with. Anderson and Wendle gone for a long time was something they couldn't afford. July will tell us what this team could be over the last 2 months. Is it gonna be another 2 months to end the season of hoping for next year or can we get some meaningful late season games for once?
And if Garcia doesn't pick it up, I need to see bleday at the major league level. If you look at his splits by month this year he has already gotten a lot better and might be major league ready. His plate discipline has been outstanding, the power is finally arriving, and even the batting average has gotten much better every single month. He has 17 hr's already this year in 244 ab's compared to 15 his first 2 minor league years in close to 500 ab's. Id much rather see him than De La Cruz if the service time stuff is already past for the year given that he is most likely going to be on the roster to start next year anyways. Unlike a lot of other guys, he's actually performing and knocking down the door to come up.
This nats series needs to be at least 3 wins. I know sandy isn't pitching this series but there is no excuse.Last edited by fish16; 07-01-2022, 11:20 AM.

if they pick it up and get back in it, I’ll watch more, but otherwise it hasn’t been worth my time overall. I’ll put games on in the background sometimes, but it’s not “must watch” every game like it used to be for me.

This team has shown nothing to indicate they will be able to make a run, but you're right on July. By the end of the month they need to be 5 over for me to have any hope. which is possible with 4 against the nats, 2 against the angels, 4 against Pittsburgh, 3 against Philly without harper who we have played well against, and then another 7 against Pittsburgh and cincy, plus a super weird 1 game against the rangers. There is no waiting, they need to go on a win streak. But to me they also need to show they can compete against good teams. Not even just the result, they need to look like they are not clearly inferior to teams that are contending. The series against good teams this year have been flat out bad and have showed no signs of real potential or promise. And the worst part is it feels like the blown games in April are going to come back to haunt them. We should be .500 and the run differential indicates we have been better than the record, but the cheapness of ownership to once again try to piece together a back end of the bullpen can be the difference between being in it at the deadline and forcing Ng to sell at the deadline. They need a closer so god damn badly and its infuriating that they didn't and we have to pin our hopes of a decent closer on a guy who hasn't done anything in 2 years other than throw from 120 feet seemingly.

I turned that game on yesterday for the first time about 4 seconds before Sanchez hit that home run. Great win and finally the team is showing some fight and passion. Even with the bad teams the last few years, they never gave up on games and that’s starting to come through again. They need to keep this run going though. They’ve gotten back to this close to .500 a few times and then had a bad series. They need to keep it up and play the Mets close next weekend and not just get around .500 but 5-10 games above

Stallings is our DH. Billy Hamilton. No Cooper.

its shit like this why Mattingly needed to be fired two years ago. He’s a terrible day to day manager. He is a phenomenal guy as a rebuilding manager and provides good insight as a bench coach, but as a manager for a team who is theoretically
trying to compete, he’s complete garbage
