As mentioned, nick fortes needs to be our starting catcher. He will regress a little but the gulf between him and stallings as a hitter is massive

Wait why the fuck did we designate astudillo for assignment for someone named Erik Gonzalez? Astudillo isn’t great but he has great versatility and as a bench bat you can at least count on him to put the ball in play and not strike out. Dumb move in a season rife with dumb moves

I like Tortuga but he played a major role in our loss to the Mets on Friday night.

Gonzalez played well in limited time in the bigs this year. Do you watch the games?

I do think it's odd they made that move when Wendle and Anderson are both slated to return any day now it would seem.

Ya, i guess you're right. erik Gonzalez has had one of the most impressive .525 OPS seasons ive ever seen. He's struck out 11 times in 34 ab's. He's been quite the revelation.

Astudillo has a valuable skill set for a bench bat. He's nothing special, but he puts the ball in play. He doesnt walk or strike out so he's always gonna have a shitty OBP, but the ability to put the ball in play has a value. And he has versatility which is also valuable. And he hits for a relatively high BA because of the fact that he at least puts the ball in play every at bat.

Gonzalez as a 30 year old has had 839 AB's for his career and is a .617 career OPS with 218 k's and 38 walks. Astudillo is nothing special either but in his 544 career ab's he has a .697 OPs and just 27 strike outs, which in this day and age is fucking crazy. It's just a dumb move.

jazz not starting for the second straight game. unless there is an injury I missed, what in the fuck Is Mattingly doing. if he was actively trying to put us in a worse position every night would he act any differently?

pablo again sitting in the low 90s. please trade him while his value is still high. he's a shoulder injury waiting to happen.

gotta hand it to mattingly, he;'s reaching new levels of horrific. De La Cruz shouldnt even be on the roster at this point and he's started 4 out of 5 games, fortes is on fire and clearly the best catcher on the roster and he's benched after hitting a walk off, and then you bench jazz 2 straight games for no god damn reason. Just horrific to the point of infuriating. this team isn't good enough to survive a truly horrific manager.

pablo's fastball for the year is now averaging 92.7. Down a full MPH from each of the last 3 years, and definitely down from the mid 90s he was throwing earlier in the year.
