  • This game feels like someone decided we're not supposed to win this one.

So what genius thought Yamamoto was ready to come back to the big leagues?

    • I'd love for Mattingly and company to diagram how they expect Yamamoto to get outs for the rest of this game. With his curveball that bounces 15 feet and front of the plate and 88 mph fastball down the middle pitching style.

        • As bad as Pablo was, if they had just put someone competent in after him we'd be down by 1 run with runners at 1st and 2nd and one out.

          • Unbelievable that they left Yamamoto in through all of that.

I made a gif of the pivotal play of this game - you can clearly see the glove hit him and then his foot stop and dirt fly when he hits the bag after the tag. How they didn't overturn that call, I won't understand.

Not only that, there were several times in multiple innings where there should've been strike 3 out of the inning that were called balls - and not borderline ones - balls well in the zone, and Atlanta, to their credit took advantage.

Mattingly also threw in the towel leaving Yams out there as he did. I get we have a long stretch ahead, but it was absolutely a winnable game, and he threw up the white flag.

Sucks, and hopefully the team bounces back tomorrow. Huge homestand and series against the Phils.

If this season doesn't prove we need robo umps for the strike zone, I don't know what will. I feel like the calls have been drastically against us vs. in our favor.

                • I’m very meh about complaining about balls and strikes because *checks notes* all teams are on the wrong side of balls and strikes calls all throughout the season (yes, we need robo ump strike calls and we will have that soon) but that call at 3B
COMPLETELY changed the game. What a shame.

maybe its the hyper focused 60 game season and im noticing more but the balls and strikes have been particularly horrendous this year.

                        • Monte Harrison had a chance to strike out 5 times and he blew it.

Yeah, should've been 2-1 out of the inning, instead of becoming 11-2.

As for the balls and strikes - yeah, I get what you're saying - I know we've benefited from some calls too, but both ways they seem to be so much worse this year than in the past.

                            • Monte Harrison and Jordan Yamamoto should not play for the Marlins the rest of this season. I can't understand why either of them are up right now.

Overall you have to be happy with what the FO has done the past couple years, but still you have to just shake your head and wonder who is evaluating these guys that thought those two were worthy of another big league stint before the year was up.
