He also wasn’t just a league average hitter at aaa. His plate discipline is really the only hole in his game. The guy is great defensively, has an absurd arm, is a legit problem in terms of stealing bases, and has great pure power. If he can refine his plate discipline just a little he is a long term major league piece

And not that it really matters but he’s built like a brick shithouse

Harrison will most likely get a good chunk of 2020. (we'll see how much that is) and all of 2021 to lock down CF unless maybe Villar super-impresses in CF and we re-sign him, but that's a pretty big long shot. Earliest we can expect Misner or Scott is 2022 realistically.

Obviously just listing guys doesnt make a good team but i really think if we continue to be patient for another year or year and a half we will have a really good, cost controlled, sustainable winning team for a good amount of time. Id like to see another C option and some kind of 3b prospect but those are luxuries right now given we have a good long term 3b in anderson and Alfaro is decent for the time being.

But there are legit 6+ guys in the outfield in our system who i can see panning out into good major league players eventually. Bleday, sanchez, misner, harrison, scott, jerar, burdick, i guess brinson still as he will get another shot this year. Thats a great group of cost controlled prospects that can pan out even without a FA addition. Worst case is you have to add 1 good free agent when we start trying to compete similar to reddick for the astros when kyle tucker wasnt ready to be counted on yet. Our OF is in a really good spot long term, as is the rotation in my opinion with Sandy, Sixto, Cabrera, Pablo, Smith, garrett, rogers, neidert, plus id assume we go SP with the first draft pick this year.

The calendar math simply does not work in terms of getting players back in shape, a few regular season games, and then the extended playoffs with crowds of 20,000 people. This is also premature, admittedly, but at this point unless they are willing to have an unprecedented shortened season i wouldnt be surprised if MLB just cancels the season eventually.

My biggest thing is that this MLB season has some sort of MLB AND MILB season. it would be pretty fucking awful in such a critical developmental year to lose an entire year of minor league experience. that would be a nightmare even if the entire league would go through the same thing. On the other side, that mookie trade would turn around pretty damn quickly.

And to be clear, I’m not predicting the NBA “finishes its season”.
I’m predicting the NBA will be the first to play.
On an unrelated note, I have mixed feelings about samson but his new podcast is decent. Any of you guys listen to it? It's kind of annoying that he tries to act like this authority at times but at other times he also is honest about his complete shit show of a tenure as a front office member here and the thinking of a front office member is put into perspective a lot. He is so clearly a pro ownership member of the media but it does give a very interesting brutally honest perspective that you dont generally get normally
