No one is saying bench rojas, just play him to his strengths, 3-4 starts a week all over the diamond and use his great defensive abilities late in games as a defensive replacement whose bat isn’t like a yadiel rivera style defensive replacement where it’s just completely useless if their turn in the order comes up again

2 war over the course of the entire season also isn’t this kind of hard to replace production that you guys keep making it out to be. It’s a nice player but it’s incredibly replaceable and if the choice is between a veteran all glove 2 war guy and a former top prospect who has shown improvement in spring and has a significantly higher ceiling on a losing team, give me the young former prospect 10 times out of 10. Two months of brinson getting one last chance isn’t doing anything to hurt anyone’s value. Teams know what rojas is. He’s an all glove utility guy with a career bat that is significantly below league average

Worse comes to worse brinson fails again after two months and you go back to rojas everyday at ss until jazz is ready. Plus, if the thought process is getting something at the deadline, you’re never going to get anything significant for rojas at the deadline no mater what and you can argue villar and his bat at ss is more valuable to a possible contender than him in center field where he has 0 major league experience.

Brinson wants to make it back to the big leagues. It's real simple outplay Sanchez and Harrison at AAA, if he's clearly the better player than those guys for an extended period of time at AAA, he'll get another shot. 27 spring training ABs doesn't prove anything to me. Give the ABs to guys like Ramirez, Cooper and Aguilar proven major league hitters.Last edited by Nick; 03-11-2020, 01:07 PM.

Brinson was significantly better than both of those guys in aaa already last year. He’s proven everything he needs to prove in aaa already. Give him two months of everyday abs one last time aNd see what happens. You’re literally choosing a 30 year old slap hitting ss and a career significantly below average major league hitter in rojas over a possible break out from brinson. It’s unlikely it happens but the guy has nothing to prove in aaa anymore. Let him put up or shut up one last stretch in the everyday lineup for a month or two and if nothing changes then move on and wait until the next guy is ready in monte Harrison. If you had legit other options or were trying to contend this year that would be one thing, but you’re gonna finish in last again your other options are fucking Miguel Rojas and his shitty below average bat and Jonathan villar playing completely out of position. It’s stupid and a waste of time to wait for brinson to give him the chance in July as opposed to now in order to watch 30 somethings put up below average stats

So clearly no matter what he puts up in aaa you’re gonna say he has to prove it at the major league level, so why waste everyone’s time in sending him down there to mash again and just give him two more months of major league time to put up or shut up so we can get a final answer one way or another rather than just delaying the inevitable last chance he’s gonna get?

Rojas is the SS, anybody who has been paying attention to spring training knows that. So your options if you want Brinson to be a major league starter is CF, with Villar going to 2nd Base and demoting Isan which is a mistake IMO, or RF where you pretty much take away Harold Ramirez's ABs completely and force Cooper and Aguilar into a platoon. That's a disservice to those players who have performed unlike Brinson.
These guys are all still young with options (besides Sierra). Just let them duke it out. Brinson still has theoretical upside. It's obvious to let him play everyday in AAA.

If they do nothing, his floor should be 550 PA and eating those groundballs.
If you want to convince me Rojas shouldn't be playing everyday, trade him to the Padres for Wil Myers, Morejon, and O. Miller. You will have my attention then of then putting Villar at SS permanently, and Myers playing all over and primarily CF for 2-3 months while they figure everything else out.

On a side note with sandy on the mound today we decided not to use the dh to I guess get him a few abs because of how completely awful he has been with the bat

Sandy looking much better today. Brinson just drew a rare walk
