I am conflicted on Puig. I love the idea where he is the June-September player last year where he was awesome, and his general upside of 2013-2014 (long time ago) and 2017, but he's had 3 duds the last 5 years (2018 was solid when you account for low PA/games).

If we think he is a 2.5+ WAR bat his age 29-31 seasons, I'm all for it (add a club option, i.e. create value). He's averaged 2.17 WAR last 3 years per 600 PA, with a massive defensive drop last 2 years. It's not asking for much improvement, but he has historically had low motivation and an attitude. The Marlins don't really have veteran leadership to keep him in line, as there isn't a Kershaw, Votto, or Kluber in this locker room. It's risky how I see this.

I think I'd still prefer Castellenos, Ozuna, or wacky trade ideas like absorbing Myers for prospects, but I could be convinced this is a good idea at the right price. Maybe 3/$33, 4th year $13 option, $3 million buyout. So 3/$36 or 4/$46.

If they did that, I still think I'd want to see a hypothetical Bleday/Sanchez, Monte, Misner/Scott/Nunez/Devers, and Mejia/Soriano/Fitterer trade for an epic CF.

The reverse Yelich trade.

I would be cool with wacky trade ideas from SD,Arizona or even Colorado to take a contract. They all got draft picks and prospects we like

The Puig thing is like u said NO vet leadership and the fact Mattingly hates the guy. Another issue is Denbo thinks the nightlife in Miami will distract him(Denbo loves him from what I heard as a player which is why before Mattingly resigned alot thought he was already here)

At 3/33 I would rather take a Wil Myers or Ian Desmond with the draft picks and prospects for Urena

Marlins are talking to about 5-7 teams on eating salary. Should get clearer IF the teams get commitment from FA(SD/Arizona/Colorado/Cubs/Boston/Houston/St Louis)

Don't forget Rule 5 is on Dec 12(Thursday) Marlins have 40 guys on roster and they plan to be very active so should be some roster movement(DFA or minor trades)no matter what we do

I’d love Puig here. Not because he is the player people think he is, but I think he is the best combination of affordable and high ceiling out of the guys we are reportedly looking into. Plus he’s good for about 2-3 ridiculous incidents a year and he would be a fan favorite.

Actually still in on him AT THE PRICE they want. They just dont think he will go for that

They are fine with 3 or 4 yrs at between 50-60 million. Boras asking for 6/100+. No one thought he would get that but so far it looks like he might. He could care less where he plays its whoever pays the most $$$$

If he falls back down to 4/64 Marlins would be in IF they havent got someone else first

BINGO. He wants every team to have over a 100 million dollar payroll and then when teams know they suck(Balt/Det/KC/Miami) he cries they dont want to spend the cash

Not sure if serious or not had some talks with LAD regarding Pollock/Joc and Kike

They wanna lose salary to make a run at Rendon and others. If Miami is interested could likely get them cheap however Miami/LAD FO rarely see eye to eye in fact Miami hates LAD FO so it could be something or not

Alot of teams who wanna get in on SP,Rendon are calling us to see if we want their guys. Not gonna be as cheap as we paid for Villar but won't cost tons either to get some solid players on big deals

Coaching staff update for #Marlins : Billy Hatcher, who last coached on the #Reds staff, will be Miami's new first base coach. Eric Duncan will be the hitting coach. Jeff Livesey will be a hitting coordinator for Miami's Minor Leagues.

Added Billy Hatcher and promoted Eric Duncan whom Jeter and Denbo LOVE

Looks like Eric Duncan,Trey Hillman,Rowson and Keith Johnson will be the "finalists" for job when Mattingly gets fired/resigns

I think he ends up much closer to 4/60 than 4/100, if he's around 4/64 or 4/68 I think it's a smart move for us.

So do I the issue is he might not end up at 4/64 till Jan or Feb. Miami will have someone else by then-we aint waiting on him

Romo,Cishek,Treinen,Betances,Yimi Garcia main ones but honestly arms wise its who knows? Marlins are in on about 20 SP/RP

Heyman said Romo should be making decision at Winter Meetings so we will know quickly(hopefully).Marlins #1 RP target is Romo. FYI Winter Meeting are in SD which means all the news will be happening at midnight or later our time

We would be more open to Joc and Kike for Conley or whatever RP and a prospect than Puig or Castellanos for 100+

We can pretty much open 5-7 40 man spots for trades,FA,DFA,Rule 5 and add about 50-60 million(realistic about 40 however) so Miami is exploring EVERYTHING right now
