Don't the Marlins have one of the higher TV ratings in the league? Maybe our fans are just too lazy to go to games? Or cheap?

I think that was just for one year.

I'm not sure why the Marlins necessarily should have a bigger fanbase than the Heat. Maybe before the LeBron thing? But even if the Marlins were competently run, the Heat would clearly have the edge right now and for the forseeable future.

The Heat have been more consistently competitive, going back before Loria. They had Shaq, who was the biggest star in the sport at the time. They won a title more recently. It makes perfect sense for the Heat to have a bigger fanbase than the Marlins.

Is it just a "Miami has lots of hispanics" thing? Because it wouldn't be unreasonable for a basketball team to have a bigger fanbase than a baseball team in a given city; it is almost certainly true in Los Angeles, for one.

That's what I'm saying. If we had been a competently run franchise past 1997, the Marlins would be the #2 team in the market.

Hispanics in Los Angeles and Oakland are predominantly Mexican or Central American. Miami, and I don't need to explain this, is predominantly Hispanics from Caribbean countries like Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican that love the sport.....oh and Venezuelans.

I'm just not sure that's a given, even with the demographics.

The Heat are one of the best franchises in the country. If LeBron was here, it wouldn't matter what the Marlins did.

That's not my point. The Heat are on another level right now because of LeBron. But the Marlins shouldn't miles behind the Heat in building some sort of serious fanbase.

                    Fuck the Heat.

                    That is all.
