Don't you think this is a problem? It's not, "well look at who else was out there." It's, "how the fuck did it come to this."

Saying that, I would heavily prefer they have gotten someone like Ian Stewart, or honestly just let Kouzmanoff play all jokes aside, because for Stewart, he does have pop and is young enough to maybe develop into a 2nd tier starter, and Kouzmanoff offers some hope for a slugging percentage over .350. Polanco is old, battered, and broken. Maybe they can churn an "acceptable" 500 PA out of him, but for a team completely rebuilding, I think a much much smarter decision would be to find some hail mary guy to just throw out there and play and go for broke. The benefit of Polanco and maybe getting a AA reliever at the deadline if he reverts back to prior years, is just not much "upside" compared to maybe turning someone like Stewart or Kouz into a .250/.325/.450. Even better if it's a platoon split.

This move is completely desperate and completely uninspired. They suck at running a franchise. Having Polanco, Pierre, Solano, and Hechavarria all in a starting lineup, is a JOKE. This is why they are clowns.
Those alternatives sure are wonderful. So wonderful that they're worse than Placido Polanco. "Ehe."

As for the reasons it got to this, they traded both Hanley Ramirez and Matt Dominguez last July which you seemed absolutely fine with.

Signed acceptable stopgaps, like Juan Pierre and Placido Polanco

    B+?
    Probably a C-.

B+ for all of that and an F for whatever it is they're doing with Stanton.

What the Marlins are doing is how teams become the Royals. Strap in boys.

Polanco, no chance. Pierre, no chance.
Teams do this all the time, even non-contending teams.
You're making a big deal about nothing. Ian Stewart sucks. Lol at mentioning Kouzmanoff and then saying "develop something" as if you haven't been making fun of him all offseason.

Youth only wins when they have a shot of developing into something. There's a good chance those two guys suck.

"There is a reason Theo signed Stewart." Yeah, because he doesn't have a 3B either. Good ol' Theo has been rather horrendous with his free agent signings so I don't necessarily think Theo Epstein is a guy we should be praising, at this point.

Are they the board's official 3rd team now?

So you have a problem with the Pierre one, too?

I'm pretty sure the long-term vision is for guys like Yelich, Marisnick, Ozuna in the outfield. And Stanton, unless they trade him too. What's the problem with the cheap, Pierre stopgap? He's here for a year until one of those guys (probably Yelich) is ready. That's bad vision?

I feel like you shouldn't be allowed to criticize 3B. You were fine with the Dominguez-Lee trade.
After that, the alternatives you mentioned were not possible.
They couldn't get Olt because Texas didn't want JJ. As it is, rumors mention that they tried to acquire three of the best 3B prospects out there (including Olt) before signing Polanco.

Polanco is a stopgap just like Ian Stewart would've been a stopgap. The only difference is that Polanco is a better player.

And that team went on to make the playoffs. It's baseball, you never know. Everyone thinks this team will suck, so we'll probably win 85 games. Maybe Polanco has a bounce back year...or maybe Cox comes up in May and takes the job. Who knows?

I get all the negativity, but I'm just tired of it. Now it just seems like some of you are complaining about things just to complain. This Polanco signing is perfectly fine and fills a need.
            The A's are clowns.

The A's happen to have someone in charge that has a clue

The Royals became the Royals by signing Juan Pierres and Placido Polancos to multi-year deals.

They signed losers like Jose Guillen to long ridiculous contracts.

This has definitely reached my idiot threshold. A younger Lou would keep going, but I do not have the time or patience anymore. At the rate Erick is going this offseason, he's going to start rivaling that Marlins2003 guy from boards past.

And if considering this move "right" because they arguably don't have 13 other position players better than him at the moment, yea? Like I said, the main issue is they created this situation where this is considered by some of you a GOOD move. That is insanity. Good for the Marlins to have Placido Polanco be their top free agent acquisition the second year in the stadium. I was just saying, if you are going to literally throw away PA with Pierre and Polanco, why not give them to someone that you can control for a few years and might get lucky with? It's just poor management for this team at this time when they could be maximizing assets. It's not like anyone they would be playings time clock would matter. Regardless, hopefully Cox and Yelich get called up in July so the team starts becoming moderately watchable again by the end of the year.

Also, my favorite Police song is King of Pain. Which sounds a lot like the Marlins.

I feel like you're trolling ANY anti-Marlins sentiment at this point.

I'm kind of doing a bobbob thing by doing the "I feel" thing. I like things.

And trim. And that we didn't all die on 12/21/12.

Beef is definitely trolling any and all anti-Marlins sentiment.

Beef practices tactical trolling. It's non-stop and relentless but if you don't pay a lot of attention you barely notice and your dead before you hear the shot fired or see the gun.

So starting the season with an infield of Jemile Weeks, Cliff Pennington, Kurt Suzuki, Brandon Allen, and Eric Sogard was some kind of genius plan on Billy Beane's part? Did that show vision? Or did he get lucky because baseball is weird and somehow his team caught fire and made the playoffs? I'm not saying the Marlins are this year's A's or Orioles, just that the perception of those teams last offseason was pretty much what it is of the Marlins is right now.
