In true marlins fashion, just as the schedule lightens up, Jazz goes on the DL and now Soler is going as well. It better fucking be Bleday or at the very least Jerar and not someone like Luke Williams. Its time to stop fucking around. They love these journeymen shit older middle infield types instead of giving their prospects an opportunity.

Gotta hold on to eleventy billion years of control and keep that high system ranking!

Mish says it’s because Berti and Anderson will play everyday anyways so rather than help the major league team with a better bat while their two biggest power hitters are out, they call up a useless roster spot waster for a couple weeks instead of having a prospect they value not get everyday playing time. In other words, they are full of shit and don’t actually care about fielding the best team for a couple weeks.

even taking into consideration service time, bleday is gonna be on the 40 man soon enough and it’s not like there aren’t 5 different guys who are wastes of 40 man spots anyways right now. Why not at least let a guy get his feet wet for a couple starts right now? Or he’ll even jerar whose already on the 40 can theoretically give you a possible homer while gaining some more experience for a few weeks.

I just don’t understand what they’re doing and why there is never any urgency to do seemingly anything to put the team in a better position to win on a day-to-day basis?? Do they actually want to compete or just show up and ho him whatever happens happens who cares?

dont address team’s biggest holes - check
keep manager who bakes blatantly terrible moves on a nightly basis - check
leave team short a man or two for weeks on end - check
call up random journeyman player who is just a warm body when you do put someone in - check

I’d say I’m not sure what else they could do to be any more complacent, but that almost may be taken as a challenge and I’m scared to see what’s next…

Yes - this is when we point out remember when we all said the margin of error was extremely low heading into the season, so go get the longterm CF right now versus midseason. They'd probably have 3-5 more wins with Reynolds and Bednar versus holding onto Watson, Meyer, Bleday, and whoever else. Most of that mainly due to situational RP innings and Bednar winning a few one run games, and then the Reynolds explosion of recent memory. But they had to hold onto Aguilar instead?

Please no Fernando Rodney type moves.

completely agree. they cant with a straight face say this team has enough to win right now without trading for a closer. It doesn't have to be a rental, it can be someone who is an upgrade and has years of control left, but they just absolutely cannot refuse to get a closer and say they are trying to win. We cant change the past, they fucked up not getting a closer, but now they need one, and if they have to trade a mid level or prospect or 2 for a closer, so be it. Just make sure its a younger guy that's more than just a rental like Rodney.

I'd ask for Laureano, Puk, Trivino, and Piscotty.

Piscotty salary dump and immediate DFA. Trivino also moves salary for them and has a good FIP. I'd take a shot on him. Laureano and Puk are good longterm players. The obvious targets here.

You're going to hate it, but I'd float Watson, Sixto, Burdick/Lewin/Bleday, Nunez/Morisette, and Jerar/outside top 20 or two. Gotta pay up. Maybe Neidert here as a post hyper prospect throw in.


I'd then trade Okert to someone who needs a lefty, recoup a prospect, and run with Bass, Trivino, Poteet, Sulser, Floro, Scott, Puk, and Bleier, with Pop/Castano/Garrett as the main injury replacements. Luzardo, Cabrera, and Meyer are effectively the big pitching adds with 2 in the rotation and the third who knows. Someone is always hurt so they are likely all up somewhere.


*Then you trade one of Anderson/Wendle in the offseason and sign a mega SS and Floro is only pitcher free agent and gets replaced by Pop/Castano/Garrett.
