Wow this one is unexpected. And this is the move. Agree with toy. This lets them trade Pablo for K. Ruiz type player.

Sandy, Rogers, Sixto, Lazardo, with Cabrera/Elisier as your 5/6th SP, and Thompson/Poteet as your 7th/8th, with Meyer and Eder coming who knows when.

Pablo's gotta go after this one. It saves $4+ million next year, and they probably turn him into two of C, 2B/SS, CF longterm starters that you need, and free agency can fill the other one.

They also paid cash for a better prospect too.

Good omen for are they going to spend. They just literally did. Oakland doesn't do that deal without the cash.

The problem with trading Pablo now is he’s hurt and who knows when he’s going to be back. I don’t think a contender is going to pay for him. They may be better off dealing him in the winter. Also, I think they’re going to have to trade for a catcher and OF because I don’t see a long term starter at either position in FA. Mish seems to think they’re going to deal one of the 2020 draft picks to get someone.

          Winter is fine for Pablo.

As long as that is Nicolas or McCambley, sure. Meyer, Eder, and to a little lesser extent Fulton (i.e., lefty), should be pretty untouchable. They need them.

They don't have to deal Pablo now. But teams are going to be desperate in the next 24hrs.

I have to think De La Cruz gets the Lion's Share of the CF ABs the rest of the season.

You have to be listening to offers on Sandy and Pablo over the next 3 days. I think if you're talking about a Byron Buxton deal, that's more likely to be minor league arms in play, but if you have the opportunity to get a catcher and names like Keibert Ruiz, Gabriel Moreno, Joey Bart are in play, you gotta at least entertain the idea of dealing Sandy or Pablo.

As of right now, the names of starting pitchers that would at least be on the verge of AAA or higher next year for the Marlins:

                  Sandy Alcantara
                  Pablo Lopez
                  Trevor Rogers
                  Zach Thompson
                  Jordan Holloway
                  Sixto Sanchez
                  Edward Cabrera
                  Elieser Hernandez
                  Nick Neidert
                  Braxton Garrett
                  Daniel Castano
                  Cody Poteet
                  Max Meyer
                  Jake Eder
                  Zach McCambley
                  Kyle Nicolas
                  Jesus Lazardo

                  That's 17 names, something's gotta give.

I would keep unless absolutely blown away - Alcantara, Rogers, Sixto, Cabrera, Meyer, Eder, Lazardo

If the price is right I'd entertain - Pablo, Thompson, Holloway, Elisier, Garrett, Poteet, McCambley, Nicolas

Don't care at all - Neidert, Castano

All roads lead back to Pablo. H

e's going to be second most expensive on this list next 3 years, mediocre injury risk, exceptional MLB performance to really sell right now.

Someone will take the risk that has a deep system of bats.

Castano - should actually be in our pen our starting at this point instead of throwing the pen games 2-3 times a week. But going forward he's in the pen or gone.

I’d prefer that as well, but Mish mentioned all of those names in his pod and not only said he thinks they’re in play. He said he’d be surprised if they didn’t trade one of them. I’ve heard a few of the other Marlins podcaster/social media personality guys say they think Meyer is obviously the one Miami would have the hardest time parting with. For me, it would hurt to move one of them, but I could get on board with it for the right return. They desperately need bats, and have so much pitching.

ya, pablo to me is more of a winter guy. Could be wrong but I see them dealing a prospect arm like Meyer or eder or mccambley or a combo plus a lower level guy like one of the young SS's for a CF, then hoping pablo comes back before too long, pitches well to end the year, then dealing him for a C like keibert ruiz in the offseason.

Im a huge proponent of trading pablo but I think unless a team is super confident in the medicals or just straight up overpays that we wont get the proper value in a trade for him right now. but I suppose that is possible because its not like he's a rental, he has years of control left so a team might get desperate enough to pay a premium for him right now even though he is hurt.

Bleier is the next to go but I imagine his return similar to the yimi garcia trade where he just gets organizational filler types.

I think De la Cruz is a little better than Organizational filler. His AAA stats at least warrant him a look at CF the rest of this season.

About a year younger than Harrison, AAA OPS about 100 points higher than Harrison's AAA OPS. Probably more of a 4th OF type, but who knows.

just going by his career statistics he doesnt seem like much. maybe he figured something out and turned a corner this year. I just dont see it. he's probably a 4th or 5th OF type.

Id like to see jesus sanchez in CF the rest of the year and see how he holds up defensively because if he can become a CF that's a pretty big development given our glut of other corner OF topics.
