Luzardo is obviously much better than his 2021 6+ ERA (his xFIP is in the mid 4’s) but is there any reason to be horny about this return? I’m not saying “lol, this is awful” but there are injury concerns and recent outings haven’t been promising.

top of the rotation talent, minor league numbers are obviously bad but we have shown an ability to develop young pitchers and he was pitching in one of the worst minor league parks and cities for pitchers in all of the minors. which is why you see his FIP not even close to his ERA. This is a good deal and can be made into a HR depending on who they end up flipping for bats.

This trade is actually one of our better ones. Not that its saying much. But We could still end up with Marte in the offseason once he sees what his market actually is.

I don’t see what’s not to like. The Bart rumors got everyone a little too excited. That just sounded too good to be true. But at the end of the day, it’s a rental. So getting a pitcher with his upside to put into a system that has done a great job of developing arms is exciting. In a perfect world they could have packaged some other things with Marte to get a CF or catcher, but you can only take what’s out there. This allows Miami more freedom to deal from their pitching pool, which it sounds like they’re going to do.

Yeah now that I've had a bit to think about it, I agree, but I think the fact that they made a trade that is only successful if it's a prelude to further trades makes me nervous, especially with our history.

Kim Ng has done a poor job with day to day moves like leaving Mattingly shorthanded on the bench numerous times.

However, all of her trades have been pretty good so far.

I'm sure Kim Ng has influence, probably moreso than Mike Hill, but to me this is the same FO that made the great Ozuna deal, and also the disaster that was the Yelich deal.

You don't flip Luzardo when his value is what it is now. We work with him build him up. 5yrs of control too. Pablo is the most likely I think to be moved. Brings the most value back.
