Mish: Marlins close on Deal to Send Starling Marte to A's; Jesus Lazardo to marlins
marte is such an oakland player. good fit for him but pretty much guarantees he will be allowed to at least hit free agency and give us a chance to re-sign him in the offseason.
We covered the entirety of the remainder of Marte's deal. paid money to get a big return on a great young arm with huge potential for a rental we can re-sign this offseason hopefully.
All reports are now we are looking to deal pitching for CF and im assuming a C. Im beyond interested to see which of them they end up dealing because its inevitable at this point.
Part of me wants them to deal eder if they have even the slightest inkling this start for his career is not transferable to the major league level. this next few days will be unbelievably huge for the future of this team the next few years.
go for buxton and take the risk on a long term deal. we wont be able to get young talent like that for the price we would be able to sign him at. It's worth the risk. No thank you to Gallo. We need a CF and I hate his game.
Pablo and one of Meyer/Eder for Buxton. Maybe if they want one of our 12 promising 18 year old SS's we can throw one of those in there but only if they sign an extension right away.
I love Gallo. But i watched him a ton living here in Dallas now. Plus he could abuse that right corner for homers. But Buxton or him has to happen now. Work the extension first then announce the trade.

Love this Marte-Jesus Luzardo trade for the Marlins. Buying low on a pitcher who needs further development, but one who still has the building blocks to be a useful big leaguer. (And pitching in Las Vegas will mess with any pitcher's head/statistics).
Luzardo is obviously much better than his 2021 6+ ERA (his xFIP is in the mid 4’s) but is there any reason to be horny about this return? I’m not saying “lol, this is awful” but there are injury concerns and recent outings haven’t been promising.
we turned caleb smith and humberto mejia into a great year of starling marte and 6 years of team control of jesus lazardo who was a top 20 mlb prospect not long ago.
