he is but i still wouldnt mind kintzler back if the market is as cheap as it seems and we can get him for 2-3 million. I generally dont like relievers who pitch to contact but he has a track record showing he can do that and do it effectively so as a middle reliever or set up guy you could do a lot worse.

          • Only knock on Bass is he is a journeyman. Solid 2 pitch guy(FB/SL) and has looked good since 2018

Taking the Kintzler role and COULD be CL however thinking more Setup. They still want a Soria/Kela type however $ still high. They willing to spend 2.5-4 million

1 thing I know about Bass is his wife is Jesse James Decker cute sister

            • Still want a RP/LHB and cheap vet SP. Cheap vet they want on Milb deal and likely closer to ST

They are in on Contreras and Benintendi. Boston LOWERED the price however nothing really close

Have talked to Rosario/La Stella/Joc and waiting to see if can get 1 for 2 years

Should be active on Milb RP/SP/LHB

              • a cheap veteran SP option with a higher floor and maybe lower ceiling who can eat some innings would be a good call. I love our young pitching but might be dangerous to rely on them to not only stay healthy and pitch well but also pitch deep into games. Urena wasnt an innings eater but a guy like him who could put up a decent 4 something ERA and at least be relatively competent would relieve some pressure on the young guys. I still think Samardzjia is a perfect fit who i cant imagine gets more than 5 million.

What are roster sizes? 26? 28? Could we get away with 6-man rotation? You have Sixto, Sandy, Lopez, Rogers, Elieser, Neidert, Garrett, Castano, Cabrera, possibly Meyer by midseason. Maybe somehow Yamamoto gets his shit together, that's a lot of options. Especially if there isn't going to be a minor league season, maybe you get creative and just make it a constant carousel of keeping guys fresh. Maybe you push Sandy and Pablo to really anchor the rotation, but for the rest just keep throwing new guys in there and keeping them fresh, keep their innings down, you get a lot of guys experience, you determine what the future rotation will look like, and possibly showcase guys for potential trade deadline deals. Probably not a winning strategy long term, but for the first half of the season maybe it's the best way to go.

26 but many think 28 with taxi squad for road games again

They are looking at lesser names. Milb deal that pays 2.5 million when added to roster after few weeks(what they prefer),they just want a guy who can eat innings help younger. Anibal?

anibal isnt the worst plan but id like a little better than him. maybe last year is just a messed up year for all but he seemed just about done. Gio gonzalez would be interesting to me. We've only been rumored to be interested every single time he's available throughout his entire career. Julio teheran would probably be about 5 million but that would be worth it to me.

The tough thing would probably to get a guy that will accept that he's not going to be in the rotation every 5th day. We can put together a solid 5 with what we have now. What could be useful is a guy who can spell one of our young starters every couple of weeks, we shouldn't be bringing anybody in who's going to take innings away from our young pitching, just supplement them.

Leave it to the janitor to have inside info on the new signing's wife

                            • Seen that Marlins have possibly signed, Chris Chinea to a minor league deal, but not posted on Marlins website yet or on MLB.com, and on Baseball-Reference still shows him in a Cardinals cap but no affiliation. Was born in Miami in 1994

                              • With CF up for grabs over the next few years, and no one in the Marlins system poised to grab it, I wonder if the Marlins might buy low on Nick Senzel from Cincinnati. #2 pick in the draft from U of Tennessee in 2016. Great numbers in the minors and an entirely decent rookie season in 2019. He struggled in the Covid season and seems displaced for the Reds. He's consistent with the Jeter plan to grab great all-around athletes. Seems like something might be done to fetch a 20-20 lead off type for the future.
