Why would we want Benintendi? With the speed gone from his skill set (now lower 45th percentile), what's left? He loses ability to leg out hits, run the bases effectively and defend. No thanks.

I want catching prospects. Bleday for Sal Campusano. Braxton Garrett and Jerar Encarnacion for Korey Lee. Elisier Hernandez and Misner for Daulton Varsho (Arizona wanted Elieser in the Marte trade. We might as well give the D'backs an entire rotation! They already got Gallen, Mejia and Caleb Smith.

So Wilson Contreras like a Craig Mish tweet about the Marlins being in talks to get him. That’s something.

Mish also tweeting that despite it being quiet publicly on the Marlins front, Miami is not shy about making big trades.

So maybe we see something soon.

Given that there are true contenders that could really use Contreras (SD, HOU, SL, LAA, and more), I can't imagine that the Marlins would offer the Cubs more. If names like Nunez and Burdick pop up, they aren't listed in the top ten of MLB Pipeline for 2020, but they are about to appear there for '21. Guys I would be inclined to include in a Contreras offer are J Sanchez, Jerar Encarnacion, Connor Scott, Nick Neidert, Victor Victor, and any of the 2020-draft pitching prospects selected after Meyer and Fulton. I think the Cubs would want Jose Devers in a package for sure.

It's only a two-year gig for Contreras, but I see him as a trade chip by the deadline if the Marlins season goes south.

Cubs want a ML arm,ML ready OF,Alfaro(no value just replaces Contreras) and 18-20 yr olds in deal. They get that from us in Elieser,Harold or Monte and DSL arms

If they want more u offer Garrett instead of Elieser(No clue whom they value more-I have heard both guys talked about however)

They want pretty much what they got in the Darvish return

The headliners would be the DSL guys with the SP being "help now" like the SD trade was. Cubs get Alfaro to replace Contreras,OF who can play now,Elieser or Garrett who is controllable SP and then 2 lotto tickets

Like was reported by Mish Marlins havent really discussed Top 10 prospects and Cubs really havent asked for any which is why this could get done.

While I agree that the return for Darvish was pretty light. I think it's also worth noting that Darvish is 34-years old and making $20 million a year for the next 3 years. I don't think you can just assume they'll also take a poor return for Contreras as well.

Agreed but talk is they will which is why I keep mentioning it AND even Mish mentioned it somewhat with the NOT even Top 10 prospect. They want a Controlled SP,ML Ready OF and few young 18-20 yr olds

Its like Boston-Marlins called and got Cabrera OR Bleday as headliner and they passed fast

Heard some talk Cubs like Burdick but prefer a closer to ML ready OF and Miami isnt to keen on dealing him

Something to remember is the ages of these guys are older too.

Jerar and Bleday 23
Jesus,Burdick and Conine 24

Ian Happ is 26

If Cubs are willing to trade Happ for a 24 yr old Burdick and more pitching u jump all over that.This is something Miami is looking at in all trades/decisions-24 yr olds in AA better be destroying the league and if they dont they gonna lose ALOT of value. Also why u dont see us going hard after FA for longer than 2 years
