  • Early Prospect Prediction: Peyton Burdick and Griffin Conine will start the year at AA at the 2 Corner OF spots, and will be the breakout prospects of next year. Bleday will prove to Lee that 140 mediocre ABs at Jupiter is not the death knell to his career that he would have you believe.

Twins outfielder Eddie Rosario is on outright waivers, sources tell The Athletic. The move is the clearest sign yet he will be non-tendered. Twins essentially giving him chance to be claimed by team that might pay him his projected arbitration salary of $9.6M. 1/1

I would be all over this if I was the Marlins. Rosario is an interesting option for relatively cheap power. They made a similar move last year with Villar and James Rowson knows him from Minnesota.

Miami is into him just NOT at the price. If he passes thru they will be all over him at 4/5 million. They prefer him to Aguilar. LHB who could play OF if needed

They like him but not at 5 million. He is pretty much a 1B/DH and Mattingly likes Coop defense at 1B better. Personally I wouldnt count on Coop(injuries). Miami wants a LHB and 1 just came on the market in Eddie Rosario

I would tender him a contract and see

Given their age/lost 2020 season, Burdick and Conine might well be targeted for AA. We got incredibly little feedback on the development of Scott, Bleday, Misner, Encarnacion, VV Mesa, etc. this fall and have no idea how far they have advanced their hit tools. But overall, I'd say sure, Burdick and Conine at the AA OF corners and probably VV between them. Bleday might also join the AA OF/DH group. I look for good things from Devers as the AA shortstop.

Roberson is definitely a dark horse for me. Dugger I'm confident will have a fairly long career as a AAAA pitcher. Yamamoto I don't know what to make of him after last season. Something had to be wrong with him, right? For him to nosedive that hard. He's still young. We'll see.

I wouldnt be surprised if they traded any of them for a NON 40 man SP. Alot of teams like them as SP while Miami see them as RP. They have more value around the league then they do here. When I say value I dont mean they gonna be great or anything but we might be able to actually get something for them because of how seen

There are 4 or 5 C that in the Rule 5 they "like"

1 of them might get a move up to AAA just cause of age. Its gonna be interesting this year all thru the minors because of "age". Teams are gonna have to test guys-u dont want a 24 yr old in Lo A ball

                      • One advantage of the fall team camp is that Marlins management got to see all those OF hitting off the same pitching for a few weeks ... that's at least something to go by.

Urena perhaps throws his change too hard (90 mph) vs 88 for Sandy. Same with the slider. With a few tweaks by a capable pitching coach, Urena could still become a very good pitcher IMO. I would have kept him.
over the last 2 seasons Sandy has a 4.60 xFIP while Ureńa has a 5.29 xFIP.

Urena was very good in 2018 and doesn't seem to have lost any velocity. Alcantara hasn't done any better than that Urena year. All in all, I don't see the loss of Urena as a big deal, but he has talent that may well pop for another team.

Wasn't he tied to the Marlins previously? I thought I remembered them reportedly being interested, but maybe I'm wrong.

As for Aguilar, I hope Miami keeps him. He had some big moments for them, and he's not going to cost a whole lot. They probably could even trade him to an AL team at some point if they wanted to. FWIW, Mish thinks they're going to tender him.

                              • Rosario has cleared waivers and will become a free agent. I would definitely be interested given our need for power in the lineup.
