    • Well that sucks for him

Wonder if TX is in his no trade clause list

      • I don't think they are. I believe TEX is one of the 9 approved teams he has.

Whatever. Nothing pre-stadium matters here. The two deals we have made so far were not money driven. If the team was winning, all the players would still be here. Sure, there is a monetary component in every trade (for example: having the Dodgers pay all of Hanley's contract is just good business, not necessarily being cheap), but the primary reason for the deals is that the team sucks. When any other team is a massive disappointment (like the Phillies), they are allowed to trade players to try and win more in the future.

I'm just pointing out that what the Phillies are about to do will be called for making "tough baseball decisions" while the Marlins trades, done for the exact reasons, is called a firesale by idiots like Passan. It's unfair, but it is what it is.

          • You don't have to explain anything to me. I'm just saying that getting annoyed by it is useless.

            • Three teams in all of MLB have a run differential lower than the Marlins -79:

              Rockies
              Astros
              Twins

Only the Cubs have scored less runs than the Marlins in MLB

Definitely a solid core that should not have been dismantled at the deadline, Jeff

              • • After all that Josh Johnson talk, the Marlins were telling teams Monday they're just going to keep their ace unless something unforeseen happens. With 15 scouts watching closely Sunday, Johnson turned in a six-walk, four-whiff, five-inning start that one scout summed up with one word: "Uninspiring." So the Marlins are informing clubs they see more value in keeping Johnson, heading into his free-agent year, than trading him just to say they did.

I didn't like this Marlins team all that much, but (fact) the core only played 40-someodd games together due to injury (Bonifacio, Stanton) and (opinion) the core did not get a fair shake considering there is some mitigating circumstance causing everyone on that team to have career worst or LOL type seasons. Ballpark, hitting coach, expectations, pick your favorite narrative. There's something going on, you cannot tell me that a group of players all on the good side of 30 suddenly lost "it" together.

Well Hanley was worse bad last year, you hate Buck, Lomo and Gaby are unproven.

                          Who else lost it?

I misread it. It made it seem that he was a free agent this off-season.

                            • I don't mind keeping JJ, as long as we contend next year.

They need to get rid of Nolasco though.
