  • Yeah, Zambrano will be gone next yr. I would be pissed if we re-sign him.

He's lucky his ERA is not in the mid 5's. He's gotten a lot of DP's at the right time. Always seems to have a couple runners on base.

    • I mean, I think he's gone this year. Gotta imagine someone's starter goes down and he's a waiver deal in August

5 days till deadline, nothing is guaranteed if a contender wants to win now. But I think the Marlins have made it clear they will need a very substantial package.

                • He's a great defensive CF'er. You couldn't read the thread?

                  • Yes I know that part.

Cant wait for Lomo to start driving in runs.

Bourjos solves our problems in CF for the next 4 years. You can pair him up with Giancarlo and Ruggiano/Yelich (late 2013, early 2014) and those guys cover the OF for years to come.

LoMo goes to 1B, Olt 3B, Reyes SS, Boni 2B and I'm guessing Brantly and someone else handle catching duties.

Giancarlo, Olt and LoMo drive in the runs and everyone else just has to get on base.

                    • @Joelsherman1: Cliff Lee is contractually allowed to pick 9 teams can be traded to. I heard #Yankees r on list, though they r not pursuing (cont) #Phillies
                      @Joelsherman1: Lee's list is mainly big-market teams plus, interestingly, #Marlins and #Braves. #Phillies

                      • Well, I'd say the chances of him ending up here are 0.01%
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

                        • Of course. Cool that he has us as one of the 9 teams though.

                          • Is the list revised yearly or did he make it at the contract signing? If it was done recently seems like oh well I only have 8 teams but I need a 9th, now which team can a guarantee won't want me.

                            • 2 or 3 teams have called on Carlos Lee and Zambrano however looks like they will be around to deadline day. Both have almost no salary that has to be paid and would return 1 or 2 prospects

If we don't trade any other pitchers Zambrano might be dealt to a contender who needs an arm(Washington or Atlanta?)

Carlos Lee the same, teams looking for a bench piece that can help at 1B/DH

Also if Dempster goes to LA,LaHair might be going with him and that might mean the Cubs could revisit Gaby Sanchez(Not sure if we deal him but they would want him as a backup 1B or insurance if Rizzo gets hurt and a cheap right handed bat on the bench)

Greg Dobbs is also avaliable as a Lefty Bat off the bench who can play 1B/3B/OF

                              • The more AA relievers the merrier.

Buerhle, Nolasco, Turner, Eovaldi, and LeBlanc/Hand probably gets through the season, assuming the move JJ and Zambrano.

Gonna have an awesome draft pick in 2013.
