    • I am still not for trading JJ personally. I think what we have done so far with Sanchez was smart, what we did with Hanely was selling low but I understand it.

Selling off JJ seems to mean we are going into a true rebuild. I mean next year our ace will be Nolasco?

I like the possible abilities of Olt from what I have read, but I personally still rather know I have a number 1 pitcher in the rotation next year. Granted I understand the risks due to his injury history.

That said It sounds like Texas could offer us a much better package then Boston or Toronto.

I was referring to strictly his honesty. I love it and I hate it at the same time.

I always loved watching Greinke pitch; even when he lost 17 games in 2005. If it happens and my school schedule would allow it I would fly to Miami to watch his first game as a Marlin at home. There isn't another player I would do that for.

Which is why unless the package is absolutely perfect and includes two long term pieces (Olt + rotation) and some future RP throw ins, everyone can go fuck themselves and they keep him.

                    Baseball move, not dump.

And of course use money in free agency next year

That is the only reason I am concerned due to the past of our ownership. I hope that it ends up being true and that we only make the moves for baseball not for a dump reasoning.

I guess we shall see. I guess one thing is for sure this team is always interesting.

Too early to call Hanley trade a "fire sale." Wait & see what #Marlins do with the $$. Clearly, it wasn't working with Hanley there.

#Marlins got good prospects from #Tigers. Let's see how/if they reinvest about $40M they freed from Hanley.

Not if you get great package of prospects with which to retool. Need new mix. RT/@BOX951: if they let Johnson go, then is it a fire sale?
This guy is a gem. Nice to know someone nationally has a fucking clue.

I wanted this whole thing blown up, but I'm starting to lean the other way with regards to Johnson. Yea Olt is a nice piece and would plug in nicely in the best case scenario; but what if he's the next Brandon Wood? I like him, and I'm not to have distrust in "prospects' but he is still an unproven guy that could fizzle out to an average player.

Furthermore this team needs to be built around pitching, and where the hell are we going to replace JJ? I don't see any #1/High 2 guys out on the market or in our system. Do we really want to put our eggs in the Grienke basket and think we are going to outbid everyone for such a valuable commodity?

I also don't trust Beinfest to make the right trade and get back the best possible assets for him. We have a proven commodity, one that is still young and we don't have to move. Good reason why so many teams want Johnson if he is truly available.

To play Devils advocate, Johnson could easily fizzle out as well between injuries, wear and tear, etc.

Well yea but you could play what ifs on any player anywhere on anything, but Johnson and his risk/reward levels are much harder to find (and more valuable) than a 24 year old 3B (I like him as a prospect, but he isn't as can't miss as some think) who has never played in the majors...

                              • Sure, JJ is probably more likely to fizzle out than most.
