ATLANTA -- Ozzie Guillen has bad news for his 230,927 Twitter followers: He says he has posted his final tweet.
Guillen, the sometimes outspoken Miami Marlins' manager, said Thursday: "I hate Twitter. I don't need the aggravation ... so many nasty people."
He announced on his (at)OzzieGuillen Twitter account his departure in English and Spanish by saying, "my last tweet. me ultimo tweet good luck buena suerte."
The 47-year-old Guillen says he advises his followers to follow Marlins outfielder Logan Morrison. Guillen says Morrison is "more fun" and "has better stuff than me."
Guillen's most recent tweets were about the death of his friend and former White Sox pitcher Kevin Hickey.
Guillen tweeted, "my man kevin hickey go to better life rip my brother."

Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen had a personal reaction to news that Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Yunel Escobar has been suspended three games without pay for displaying a gay slur on his eye black during a recent game.
“I went through it. That’s not an easy situation to go through,” Guillen said before tonight’s game.
In 2006, Guillen apologize after using a derogatory sexual term to describe Jay Mariotti, then a Chicago sports columnist.
“My situation was worse because I said it. I said it to a media member,” Guillen said.
“It’s something I don’t feel proud about it. I was a very, very hard situation for me and the people around me.. It was maybe the worst thing I ever did.”
Guillen doesn’t condone what Escobar did, but he said he is certain Escobar was fooling around more than trying to purposely offend anyone.
“I think this kid did it without intending to hurt anybody. I think he did it just for fun. But in our country we do that,” Guillen said.
“I know he didn’t mean to hurt anybody’s feelings. Nobody is that stupid,” Guillen said.
Guillen said the term Escobar used is commonly said in Venezuela in a joking manner.
“To be honesty with you, in my house we say that word every 20 seconds. I got three kids. It’s HOW you say it,” Guillen said.
“He is paying the price.”
Guillen laughed when told Escobar received a three-game suspension.
“Three games? I got six. Because I don’t have the players association,” he said, joking.Originally posted by Madman81Most of the people in the world being dumb is not a requirement for you to be among their ranks.

I'm fairly certain that Escobar meant it in the way Ozzie was talking about, regardless of what the different connotations are in English.God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

bobbob is right
--------------------
if I take a shit in my hand and then slap you in the face with it and then say "oh that's a sign of affection in my household" you're still gonna be furious
--------------------
there's also a very real difference to me between "not knowing" and "not caring"
if someone can convince me that Yunel Escobar legitimately doesn't know that that word is offensive to a large group of people, then cool
but he does, he just doesn't care

The argument is always made that the person using the word doesn't actually mean "Gay person" when they say it. I don't think that makes a difference.

Mariposa is another word they use. It's actual translation is butterfly but it's sometimes used as slang for "whore or faggot".
