Can a ballpark really have that much of an impact on a player? I mean, this year he OPSed .771.

To be totally honest, my biggest concern would be that he's in his walk year and we give up a ton for a guy that may want to test free-agency, I think everything else bounces back.

He played 100 games last season. I don't think much can be drawn from that other than injury risk.

In his age 25 season (last at Shea) he OPS'd .924, in his age 24 season he OPS'd .963 (career high). In his age 26 season (first at Citi) he OPS'd .837 (his first sub-.900 since his rookie season) and hit 10 HR's. His only sub .900 OPS seasons (rookie year aside) came at Citi. I guess you can say "decline" since one is a fluke, two is a coincidence and three is a trend, but Citi plays like a canyon, and it's a big reason why the Mets are making drastic changes to its dimensions this offseason (shortening the distance AND lowering the walls).

The Mets are actually moving the walls closer this off season and I think shortening the height of them as well.

Yeah coming in and lowering the height.

Yes, I agree he'd cost more than that if another team with a deeper farm wants him, but assuming the Mets don't hit their target of two A prospects because Wright is in his walk year and coming off an injury, a 3B who is ready to play and two lefty starters either ready or a year away isn't an atrocious return.

Plus, you have to wonder how much the Mets' inability to find a cash infusion (even with the Madoff issues resolved) factors into this decision. I don't think they're moving him because they're done with him, I think they're moving him because Bay and Santana are unmovable and they need to shave payroll somewhere.

Chewie - in the future, do we have any of these guys?

Well, he only hit five homers on the road in '09 (Citi's first year) and nine this past year, although I understand he was dealing with injuries in the latter. I'd just be careful about giving up a substantial amount for a player who appears to be declining.

Trading prospect for David Wright is fine with me. I'm not big on prospects, the truth is they don't always pan out to be what they're supposed to be.

I'm 100% with Stimpson, those moves would also be "for me". I really want Gio, because I'm not a fan of Shields.

I would also get rid of Nolasco, not a fan of his either.

This offseason has been very quiet so far, I'm guessing they're waiting to make all the name/uniform changes, etc. to get underway as the "Miami Marlins".

I think it has more to do with teams waiting for the CBA.

And nothing really huge happens until the winter meetings.

                    True and true.

I think the only guy that signed in November last yr was V-Mart.

They have been saying since the post season that the CBA should have been done with by the world series, then after the world series they said it should be done in a couple of days. Who knows when the hell they will actually come to an agreement, hopefully soon.

Lol Capozzi is proposing Dominguez, Petersen and Volstad for David Wright.
                      --------------------
                      Here it is:

. Or, the Marlins try to sign Wright to a long-term contract, which would allow them to send Dominguez to the Mets in a package of players.

The Mets “crave” a defensive-oriented center fielder, according to Sherman. Chris Coghlan probably isn’t the kind of center fielder the Mets are looking for. But maybe the Marlins could offer him or Bryan Petersen, along with, say, pitcher Chris Volstad?

                      Wrong off-season thread, sorry.

We were mentioned as interested in Ryan Madson.

Ryan Madson is drawing lots of interest and the Red Sox, Phillies, Nationals, Rangers and Marlins are believed to be interested.
