Well, days before Edwin quit, he made a comment about "having to have a reason" to send Volstad down. He makes two sub-par starts and he's gone? If Ricky gives up 3 ER in 5 innings on Tuesday, are we going to send him down?

No because just before his last terrible start, Ricky's ERA was 3.51. Volstad's ERA hasn't been under 5 all year.

I supported the guy (Volstad) yesterday saying I wouldn't mind him back for another year over some other alternatives, but you're really crazy about him.

The results haven't been there for Volstad this year (that much is obvious); maybe he can work on some things at a level where they're supposed to be worked on (the minors).

Found a little tidbit on Sampson since it's been argued that he's a better option than Volstad.

Here's the right up from the Zephyrs press pass about Sampson last year.

2010- Pitched in 35 games with the Astros, going 1-0 with a 5.93 ERA in 30.1 innings. Gave up just two runs over his first 17 outings, spanning 16.0 innings
(1.13 ERA). Surrendered 12 runs over 2.0 innings in three games May 23-31, and went on the disabled list June 1 with rotator cuff tendonitis. Returned on June
24 and made 13 more appearances for Houston before being optioned to Round Rock, where he went 1-2 with a 2.35 ERA in 13 games.
