Why? What's the fucking point of it when the only reason that might occur is because the players aren't fucking producing up to their standards.

You are guaranteed the money under your previous contract, but you cannot "double earn."
Let's say your contract guaranteed you $1,000,000. If you're relieved of your duties (and not fired for cause) you get that $1,000,000 from previous employer. If you then go out and get a new job, for simplicity's sake, let's say it's the exact same job description with the exact same expectations and duties, for every dollar you earn from your new employer, the previous employer owes you one dollar less. To expand the hypothetical, say the $1,000,000 employee gets a new job for $750K. The previous employer only owes $250K now, not the full $1,000,000. If you get a job for a $1,000,000 or more, the previous employer owes nothing.

I think it really comes down to the locker-room. I don't think you can fault Edwin for this stretch; this is just absurd. What I think you can have a problem with is if the player's have tuned him out. If Gammons' tweet is to be believed (and why not) then it sounds like they're already looking at him as a lame-duck.

I want Edwin to stay, but the players even talking at this point is ridiculous. If he gets fired, it's because the players have been playing like shit. If they started winning some games, they wouldn't have to talk about this.

This isn't a small business. It's an entity worth $400 million.
The team is now 1-16 in June.
This would no longer be an overreaction (as I believe the Mallee firing was); this is basically a good time to make a decision.
The Marlins are going into a new stadium next year. The last thing the owner wants is a laughable year heading into the new stadium.
This last month has been laughable.
I'm not saying it is the answer, but sometimes change for the sake of change can be the answer.
