True, but 3 of the 5 did get 7 figures. Almost like they reached but still paid even though that goes against the thought process behind reaching in the first place.

I'd guess they didn't pay over slot for them, though.

Probably not. I just think its funny that Colby Rasmus got the same bonus as Jacob Marceaux and that Aaron Thompson made close to $400K more than Clay Buchholz(granted, he went roughly 15 picks before CB).

True. Hell, I am probably wrong about them being reaches anyway, hard to remember what was said about draftees 6 years ago.

Like I said all he had to do was hit 2 or 3 times and we'd be right there with Atlanta and Philly.

IMO I dont consider Volstad a bust, he has given the marlins 3+ years of starting and almost 500 innings.

The mlb draft is the biggest crap shoot in sports, and to draft a player that can maintain a spot in the big league roster for now 4 years (albeit some small stints to the minors), is a successful pick.

Volstad has been very disappointing. We drafted him thinking that he would be Derek Lowe 2.0 and be a solid 2, but so far has produce like a 4th starter. But the fact that Volstad has been disappointing, doesnt make him a bust. A bust is Andrew Miller, Wade Townsend, or Jeff Clement that couldnt manage to remain in their major league club.

Also Volstad was the 16th player in the 2005 draft. And currently has the 18th highest cummutative WAR of 1st round picks. Not that far off. Furthermore, of the 17 players that have a higher WAR, only 7 players were drafted below him. Honestly, with how randomly drafting can be, this was a good pick.

As for the other 4 picks, those were busts. But as bobbob said, its expensive to draft 5 true 1st round talents, and therefore have to reach on some, see Thompson and Marceaux.

                  K-Rosenthal:

#Marlins want Ozzie, but it's almost impossible to imagine it happening in season. #WhiteSox wanted @LoMoMarlins for him last winter. #MLB
#Marlins Loria in Europe, pondering changes. Roster move today. E-Rod not on firm ground. Still interest in Ozzie, even Bobby V. #MLB
                  Roster move today?

I wish Bobby Valentine would quit getting linked to the Marlins job. If he is the best you can do, you might as well stick with what you got.

Valentine changes his lineup almost every game and cant manage a bullpen.

He does a lot of film work, never gives up outs and is an all around bad ass.

Why is it a negative to change the lineup?

Would Bobby V still be interested to manage here after what happened last year?

We should go all ESPN with our team.

Eduardo Perez, Bobby V, John Kruk (bench coach), Orel Hershieser (pitching coach).

I wonder if there will actually be a roster move today, as the tweet states.
