  • Its seeming to me that other teams still don't understand the Marlins have a new stadium coming and that our payroll will be increasing. They still want to treat us as a AAAA farm team for their teams.

We need to be buyers next year to set the tone for the new stadium.

      • The Marlins are getting tons of calls on Cody Ross but aren't inclined to move him, tweets Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. ESPN's Jayson Stark says the Marlins are wavering on their stance not to deal Ross, and the Braves are making a push

        • I wonder if we were to trade him, what we would ask for in return? More minor-league pitching?

          • Mike Dunn/Tim Collins and a prospect like JJ Hoover sounds about right

            • Why ask for anything other than minor league pitching? That's the biggest organizational need.

                • They asked the Yankees for Nova/Robertson and a prospect

So I would say they want pitching for him

                  • Fish bait: Remember that theory that there was no way the Marlins would trade Cody Ross in the wake of Chris Coghlan's pie-throwing injury? Uh, never mind.
We've heard the Braves have made one last pre-deadline push to convince the Fish to deal Ross, and the Marlins were wavering. The Red Sox, Yankees and Dodgers have also been linked to Ross, even this week. And a source said the Phillies had continued to express interest until just before they pulled the trigger on the Oswalt deal.
So while the Marlins are still likely to hang onto Ross, at least for now, the Braves were trying awfully hard to change their minds in the past 24 hours.

                      • There is no real reason to hold onto Ross if we think we are out of the race. Rather get stuff for him than just get rid of him in the offseason for nothing

                          • Bidding wars always help. Just move him now. There won't be nearly this much interest next offseason.

Fuk. Guess I should start preparing myself to not get disappointed when we trade him in the off-season for a Steve Bono and Jose Alvarez package.

We always hear about how we were offered a better package in July than we got in the offseason
