Still hoping we trade Ross because their is a pretty good chance he get's non-tendered in the off-season + I still think Maybin is the future in CF. But...

There was a chance Cody Ross might’ve been dealt — before Chris Coghlan got hurt. But the Marlins were leaning toward keeping Ross before Cogs’ injury, and they’ll probably ride out the rest of the year with Cody now.

Even if we tendered him, nobody will give us a quality return since teams know that we need to dump his salary.

Rather trade him now when he has trade value, then in the offseason when he will basically be a salary dump.

Maybin just started playing again in AAA, he should be ready in a couple of weeks. And getting him some more ML seasoning in low pressure games might really help us in the long run

If he does get traded I am expecting to get a package equivalent to what we got for M.Lindstrom. The way I see it, not to many teams are going to be knocking down our door for Ross when he is set to make 6 + million. Most teams right now already see him as a 4th OF.

If he can push it back up towards his career numbers there should certainly be takers.

Nunez should go if the closer market is what Bill Smith set it at, or, really, if it's anything close to that. Cody should go if there's any chance at all they'd consider non-tendering him. I don't think the FO would be that bad though. It's more likely they'd just deal him off next offseason for some B- prospects.

I don't see any team giving us B- prospects for Ross now or in the off-season to be honest.

MLB.com has learned that in talking to the Marlins about acquiringJorge Cantu, the Rangers alsofigured it was worth a chance to reach for the sky. They also inquired to see if the Marlins would consider trading All-Star Josh Johnson.

Texas was willing to part with their top three prospects, just to get the conversation rolling for the hard-throwing Florida ace.

Before a conversation could even get started, the Marlins made it clearthat Johnson is "unmovable."
