    • 9:19am: Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel says the Padres wanted Cameron Maybin and Miller for Bell. The Fish have seen other trade ideas dry up as well, leading Rodriguez to suggest "it might be Nick Johnson or bust for the Marlins.
Way, way too much to give up for a reliever.

      • If that was the price for just Bell, then it's a good thing they said no

        • That wasas NOT the Maybin offer the Padres made was
Heath Bell for Andrew Miller and Scott Cousins or Bryan Petersen

Which we rejected cause did not wanna deal Miller

          Then they came up with
Heath Bell and Adrian Gonzalez for Andrew Miller,Sean West,1 of Maybin/Morrison/Stanton and Cousins or Petersen

          Which we rejected again

I can see the Marlins not wanting to move both Lefties.

I just think when an opportunity like that comes along, you HAVE to take it.

Why the hell was that deal rejected?!?!?!?

Miller/West/Morrison/Cousins for Bell/Gonzalez isn't good enough for them? Wtf?

                  I hope that's a false rumor

I'm not saying I agree with it.

It's something to think about but thats a steep fucking price. Miller, West and Logan/Maybin is alot. Now if they could have swapped Coghlan for Morrison/Maybin then you'd have to do it but i can understand why they passed.

I don't think that's that steep for a great closer and a guy who is going to hit 40+ homers while driving in 100+ runs. Plus, Gonzalez is cheap and would be under contract with us for a couple of years.

                              • Gonzalez is signed through 2010 with a club option for 2011, and a stadium opening in 2012. It's not a stretch to see him in a Marlins' uniform for a long time.

Besides, what are we realistically giving up? A starter who hasn't figured it out yet and three prospects that could turn out to be nothing? Gonzalez is a young sure thing. That's a good deal.
