        Why this deal got done:

Samson acknowledged on Thursday that he was against a four-year deal for the pitcher.

``I was not in favor of a fourth year because, from a risk standpoint, for us, it's always what is the risk and the reward,'' Samson said.

But Samson said team owner Jeffrey Loria eventually stepped into the debate and issued the order to offer Johnson a fourth year.

Said Samson: ``Jeffrey called me and said, `David, I appreciate your advice. But I don't accept it. And Josh is going to be on this team for well over a decade. We'd like for him to go into the Hall of Fame as a Marlin.' ''

Hall-of-Fame? That's quite the crystal ball Loria has there. I guess it's not bad to have high expectations, but yowza.

It was a joke. A play on the word copulate.

                        Agreed

I hope if Hechavarria isn't the all-star "everyone" expects him to be that we never let him go since one time one guy puffed his chest and said some stuff

They kept him for 3 years and traded him one year away from free agency when it's clear the team sucks/it's going to be difficult to re-sign him.

                              Front office liars!
