Yea, and the whole deal $2-3 more in price. That was also compensating for chance of arbitration which the experts thought was going to be mid 4's. Despite the fact it could have easily been higher because JJ killed people last year.

          This would be the update

          C John Baker $415,000
          1B Gaby Sanchez $405,000
          2B Dan Uggla $7,500,000
          3B Jorge Cantu $5,500,000
          SS Hanley Ramirez $7,000,000
          LF Chris Coghlan $410,000
          CF Cameron Maybin $405,000
          RF Cody Ross $4,200,000
          B Emilio Bonifacio $415,000
          B Wes Helms $950,000
          B Ronny Paulino $1,100,000
          B Brett Carroll $415,000
          B Jorge Jimenez $405,000

          SP Josh Johnson $3,750,000
          SP Ricky Nolasco $3,800,000
          SP Andrew Miller $2,000,000
          SP Chris Volstad $415,000
          SP Sean West $415,000
          RP Leo Nunez $2,000,000
          RP Dan Meyer $415,000
          RP Brian Sanches $415,000
          RP Reynel Pinto $900,000
          RP Burke Badenhop $415,000
          RP Rick Vanden Hurk $415,000
          RP Anibal Sanchez $1,200,000

          $45,260,000

Uggla, Cantu, Ross, Nunez, Pinto, and Anibal are the arbitration estimates.

I wonder how much of this has to do with losing out on Chapman; or in the alternative, if they realized that bidding on Chapman made the organization look like assholes when they weren't giving JJ money.

I don't think this had anything to do with anything other than JJ. We were going to sign him no matter what else we did.

For all the turmoil we went thru up until this point, I would hardly say we were going to sign him no matter what. i think everyone is very surprised by this, given the circumstnaces

I think the people involved in the deal are probably not surprised.

Sosnick is a dick, but he knew the Marlins weren't going to not let this deal get done, no matter how much chest puffing he did. And the Marlins knew they were going to get a deal done, because they had to. They knew JJ wasn't going to turn down 39 million when it was sitting in front of him, and I'm guessing their offer didn't come as a surprise to them.

I mean we (the fans) are surprised by the signing. Even if you hoped for it, all signs pointed toward the contrary

Like I said, the signs were what some douchetard said to the media and what he said was so fucking unbelievable that everyone who believed it should be publicly stoned with their own petrified doodies..

I mean, I guess. I always assumed it was all posturing on Sosnick's part.

We literally only heard his side of the story.

Beef, if that's the case then why was everyone on the website all doom and gloom when that news came out a couple months ago? I'm sure there were some people (maybe even you) who may have expected this, but hte majority of people were legitimately worried that this wouldn't get done.
