Bleday is probably a top 5 organizational asset right now. They have to treat him as such. Even if they plan on contending in 2021, you call him up with 171 days to go and forsake the 2 weeks for an extra year of control. It’s really not a debate. The marlins were wrong to call up Fernandez and brinson when they did. You have to play the game. The braves did with Acuna and they were looking to contend.
Do you really think that's what I meant? C'mon lou. Injuries, trades, whatever, things can happen.

For one thing, I think that rule will be changed by 2021, and if it's not it should be, it's just stupid. I'm just saying some sacrifices may need to be made, every win counts. Making the playoffs vs. not making the playoffs in 2021 would be worth a hell of a lot more than an extra year of Bleday.

Didn't really know what you meant, but it's just administrative. Even in a trade, or injury, timing the service time is the right thing to do to maximize an asset. It likely doesn't matter for guys like Brigham, and even the Richards of the world, but your marquee assets you have to maximize.

I agree the service time changes may change with the next CBA and hopefully this whole system is overhauled, but they shouldn't do anything differently expecting that to happen just in case it doesn't. To note, I think we've talked about this before where I think service time calculations should start after the trade deadline. Call them up before, that's "1" year of service time. Call them up after, you get August and September. Really simplify the process so teams decide if they want Bryant, Acuna, and Vlad Jr. for the whole year, or if they just want to ease them in "Diaz style" in August.

That's it. Just maximize the assets. I firmly believe you should never have a Super2 on your team if you can control it. I think they are paying attention, because they have maneuvered Riddle, Elisier, and Garcia out of Super-2 land with their callups this year, and Brinson being down this long is insane (even with the recent struggle) with what they are throwing out in CF with Riddle and Puello. At least Brinson should play defense. His clock is going to turn over in the next few days so I suspect when he strings together 4-5 good days to get a little confidence, he's back up and starting 5 days a week in CF for better or worse.

        - - - - - - - - - -

Also, some fun with second half splits.

        Scott is hitting .351/.398/.491, 123 PA, 9/26 BB/K

        VVM is hitting .313/.343/.344, 133 PA, 5/15 BB/K

That's starting to be a pretty big split. I am starting to really like the top 15-18 in the farm.

bleday is gonna be great, but holy shit cj abrams numbers are still ridiculous and the sample size isnt that small anymore. 113 ab's, hitting .425, OPS of 1.128, 18 XBH's, and 13/17 on SB's, 11 K's to 9 BB's.

Fantastic outing from Sixto. Wondering why he was taken out after only 76 pitches. Hopefully just being overly cautious.

The Marlins really should make a spot for Orr and Ready in Clinton, they're destroying the NYPL.

Berti started in CF in NO. I think Riddle and Puello's days are over in their quest of trying to turn anyone into a backup CF. Not that any of this matters in the grand scheme of things.

It's great Castro is hitting, but it's time with Diaz. He's just rocking XBH and BBing daily. Surely they can figure out how those two can co-exist for 7 days? Call him up and DH him tomorrow. Sit Diaz for Greinke and R. Ray and play Castro at SS/3B for 4 games until he's moved.

Sixto Sanchez is a legitimate future ace. He's years ahead of where most guys are.

After next year u wont see many guys moved up unless its needed. Gonna have a bad roster crunch

The OF crunch has been discussed but they can't move Ready up because Dick Scott's 25 yr old son needs a job

Seriously Aug 1 we will probably see movement-they dont wanna move guys until after the deadline to see who they get first but ya Batavia/GCL/DSL all have guys who need to be moved up. 1 issue is NOLA/Jax/Jupiter/Clinton dont have many open spots and few rehab guys still are coming back

As for Sixto,he is on pitch limit/innings limit same with guys like Guzman(on IL now),Garrett, draft picks. He was hurt LY so Miami is going easy with him.

Yep. They need to watch Sixto, Garrett, Guzman, and Rogers innings here on out. They probably only each have 4 starts left and innings caps on those.

They can let Cabrera, Stewart, Dugger, and Holloway rip. They have a lot of innings left if they can handle it.

MLB level looks good besides Yamamoto. He probably should only be throwing 4 more starts too and that's it.

Ridiculous J.D. Orr and Nic Ready stats.

                            Over 29 games J.D. Orr's OBP is officially over .500 at .504.
Nic Ready has 128 ABs and has doubled 20 times. Pro-rating that over a 600 AB season, he'd be on pace for 94 doubles.

just looking at our prospects stats, its pretty remarkable that we have 3 different SP prospects who in the minors have ERA's below 2.5, WHIPS below 1.1, and 100+ K's and 31 or fewer walks. Thats Cabrera, Gallen's minor league stats, and Rogers. And that doesnt include Garrett with a 2.95 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 98/32 K/BB ratio. And then you have the best prospect out of all of them in Sixto Sanchez not even being included in that list. This rotation is going to be really fucking good in a year or 2.
