Here is what BA and MLB.com say about him:
They are looking at Toglia(mentioned him I think on page 4 or 5) at #46. From what I hear #46 depends on what they do at #35. If they can save some cash they might try for Hunter Barco or Spencer Jones if not they would go for Toglia/Wallner(college bat)

That's good to hear. I'd be fine if they went heavy on bats the entire draft. I'd be going after a bunch of guys with raw power. That's why I mentioned Toglia. Reece Hinds is another guy I'd take a flyer on. Not sure if you have mentioned him yet as a target (EDIT: I see that you did). Give me one of those two in round 2, after taking Bleday/Vaughn in round 1 (with maybe a middle infielder with the comp pick) and I'd be happy.

completely agree. This system badly needs some power.

#46 depends on what they do at #35 from what I hear. They have a list of 6-10 guys with Toglia,Hinds,Drey Jameson,Spencer Jones,Barco, few other college bats. If they go for a college MIF at #35 they probably go with a harder to sign HS guy but if they go HS MIF at #35 then college guy.

Issue is they have no clue what MIF will be around at 35-they wanted Greg Jones but he is likely gone

The system needs bats badly-I would go with Bleday/SS/BPA or Barco(if he signs)/BPA(Sounds like they like Yordys Valdes)/College C/Arm with First 5 Rds

This draft has so much C depth its crazy. I would grab 2 or 3 in Top 10 Rds.

Like said Upper levels needs Bats which means College Bats and Lower levels needs Arms which means HS/JC/CC Arms

          • No surprise but looks like we are down to Bleday or Vaughn. Abrams still getting looks but likely to take the college bats

            • MLB.com has a new mock. They have Vaughn going 3rd and Bleday 4th.

              Frisaro then tweeted this:

Here’s the latest mock Draft. If it played out this way, I wouldn’t be shocked if the call is Abrams. Key, is getting it right.

Given the lack of advanced hitters or power in the system, I can't imagine they'd go Abrams this year.

              • ill be furious if they go with abrams over Vaughn and/or Bleday, not cause he's bad, just because of the type of bat he is compared to what we need and the fact that we really need a fast moving power bat in the system.

If this was any other beat writer I would say listen to him but Frisaro probably didnt even realize the draft was Monday

Stuff can change but what heard was our board is

                  Bleday
                  Vaughn
                  Abrams

They like the Bleday or Vaughn/SS better than Abrams/Wallner or some other college bat option

Marlins brought in two potential draft picks for visits today to Miami. C.J Abrams and Riley Greene. Both visited Marlins Park I’m told, and are potential first round selections for Miami this Monday Night.

I'm assuming this is them doing due diligence. I can't imagine that they would take either college bat.

Highly doubt Greene. Abrams is in play if he makes it to #4(Jeter loves him). Abrams at #4 and Wallner/Misner/Toglia at #35 is possible(They want a SS/LH Power Bat on Day 1)

Never say never but keep hearing final 3 are Bleday,Vaughn,Abrams

If there werent 10 SS/MIF types between 30-50 I think Abrams would be favorite but there is

First of all, I don't think Frisaro knows shit. The rumors from the start, however, have been that Jeter and Denbo like Abrams, and those are the two guys that matter most at the end of the day. The Marlins badly need power in the system, and could really use someone who will move relatively quickly, so Bleday/Vaughn makes more sense. Ultimately, though, they need to get this pick right, and Abrams is a really good prospect. I think people assume that he's a slap hitter, and that's not really true. He may never be a big time HR hitter, but I don't think he's going to be anything close to Dee Gordon, either, when it comes to power. A lot of the scouting reports on him talk about him having sneaky power. Here is what BA says about it: "He has below-average raw power at the moment and scouts have questioned his power potential at times, but he has improved his strength enough to the point that it would be fair to project average power in the future as he continues to fill out. It also wouldn’t be shocking if Abrams eventually reaches above-average power because of his impressive hand-eye coordination and ability to consistently put the barrel on the ball in today’s home run-friendly environment at the Triple-A and major league levels."

It's completely possible that he ends up being the best player in this draft when it's all said and done.

                          • The 3 they have keyed in on Bleday/Vaughn/Abrams are all good. Ill take ANY of the 3-the reason they have put Bleday and Vaughn at top is because the MIF depth in the draft and lack of college bats

3rd Rd Pick looks to be a SS too. Fangraphs mentions Yordys Valdes and Frisaro mentions Cade Doughty as guys we like. BOTH says 2nd or 3rd Rd options-I wouldn't touch either of them in Rd 2(unless massive discount) but both would be solid 3rd Rd Picks. The 2nd Rd Pick is the wildcard for us-could go about 10 different ways

He has power the issue that lots of scouts are having with Abrams is can he stick at SS? Lots of guys think he is CF or 2B. Marlins/Jeter think he is a SS FWIW. The Marlins have 3 or 4 drafts based on what other teams do

I keep hearing this is what they want most

                              #4 Bleday
                              #35 SS(They love 3 or 4 guys and like another 5 or so) Love Greg Jones,Josh Smith,Nasim Nunez,Matt Lugo
#46 ? (Heard Barco,Drey,College Bat,Rece Hinds) Prolly depends on who on board and cost of #35 Pick
Rd 3 BPA who will sign (Sites have mentioned SS Valdes and Doughty. Prolly depends on board/cost and who they pick at #35 but Valdes-Defense and Doughty-2B/3B?)
                              Rd 4 College C

Something to remember is they are signing Salas/Junior Sanchez/Lewis and maybe Cappe/Yo Sanchez. All of these guys are SS(Junior-2B/Cappe-3B likely)which means they can't take 20 SS guys because NO place to play!!

                              • I’m sure Abrams is a great prospect, but to me he’s be the wrong pick for this organization. They have Devers and Osiris Johnson in the system. They seem likely to sign 3 International SS on July 2. What the organization needs more than anything is elite, advanced hitters. If either Bleday or Vaughn are available, I don’t see how you pass that up when you can draft another SS in round 2.

Also, they went HS heavy last draft. They need players that can move up quickly...I think they have to go advanced college bats early...at least 2 or 3 in the first 5 rounds.
