Vaughn can play 1B no problem. Issue is Denbo and the FO wants guys who can play multiple ones which is why Bleday/Bishop getting looks

Too bad the FO wants to add the most talent it can

Again I am with u in going BPA (who will sign) but cant be mad at them for trying to add talent. Exactly how Cubs,Houston,SD,Atlanta did it and what Baltimore is trying to do this year

Don’t sleep on Hunter Bishop being #Marlins pick. Power, speed lefty bat from Arizona State. #MLBDraft Lot of combinations being explored. Bleday/Greene/Bishop all would be really good gets.

This rumor is picking up steam!!!

    • My ideal Top 3 picks:

      1. Bleday RF
1A. One of the High School SS/Greg Jones SS - UNCW
      2. Cameron Cannon 3B - Arizona

      • Taking Bishop would be such a Marlins thing to do. They'll continue to go quantity over quality until their entire roster is filled with replacement level to slightly above replacement level talent.

        • joe frisaro is one of the worst beat writers in the league. He also has 0 insight into what the front office is doing and that has been shown countless times. I think its almost a certainty that they will get bleday or vaughn.

          • if we take Riley Greene I might quit. Think he's gonna be pretty good, but no reason for us to draft him at 4.

I'd be okay with Bishop but Bleday and Vaughn are really it for me.

If we haven't quit at this point, I think we're all going down with this ship.

That being said, I'm honestly fine as long as it's anyone in the top 14 here - https://www.fangraphs.com/prospects/...rt=-1,1&type=0

The draft is a total crapshoot and those guys are all probably close in value where signing someone for a little less, may help rounds 2-4 more. I usually have a pretty big draft opinion, but this one I don't really care. It seems like a lot of parity and eye of the beholder after Rutschman.

I'd probably go Rutschman, Vaughn, Bleday, and Bishop in that order. Basically, the top college bats in order and if it's Bishop and you get a discount on signability, cool.

I heavily suspect it's going to be Vaughn or Bleday though given it seems one of the HS SS will go 2 or 3.

I can't believe I am fine with them taking another OF also. They would be devoting serious resources to outfielders between Monte, Brinson, VVM, and back to back first rounders, let alone Osiris may end up in the OF too. So many outfielders.

              • The last thing the Marlins should be considering tonight is saving fucking money. Take the kid who has the highest likelihood of being an impact MLB impact player in 2021-2023.

It's not saving money to pocket it, it's saving money to spend above slot on a guy later on like they did with Banfield last year. That being said, I still don't like it. Take the best guy at 4, because that's your best bet to find an impact bat. Worry about the other picks later, or find a way to save for the pick in other ways (which I believe is what they actually did last year instead of going under slot for Scott).

                  • Yeah I never thought they’d save it to pocket it. But this isn’t the time for quantity over quality. I’m pretty sure we did that in the Yelich trade.

                    • Not necessarily a quantity thing. Maybe Jack Leiter falls to our competitive balance pick and they think they can sign him. Would still be upset.

Think they are trying to sign Hunter Barco or Spencer Jones with the "savings"

Exactly they aren't trying to pocket the cash or anything. If they take Hunter Bishop its because they want to spend the 1-1.5 Million savings on others in the draft. Instead of drafting college seniors on Day 2 or Day 3 who are already 23 they could draft HS Guys and see.

Nothing has really changed from the morning

                        4-Bleday/Vaughn OR Bishop
35-Nasim Nunez OR Josh Smith/Matt Wallner
46-Nasim Nunez/Other HS SS OR Josh Smith/Matt Wallner OR Barco/Jones

Day 1 should look something like this. Josh Smith is JT Riddle with a better bat,can play 2B,SS,3B and Wallner is 6'5 220lbs LH Power RF. Both College Guys!! Nasim Nunez seems to be the SS they want but about 5/6 options. Barco and Jones are both injured but 1st Rd talent

                        • If we take Vaughn with the 1st pick, I'd love Wallner at 35 or 46. Wallner and Bleday seem like very similar players.

Wallner,Bishop and Bleday are all the same player.6'3-6'5 210-225lbs LH Power RF.(Bishop can play CF) Thing is we have no power at all in system and need as many advanced bats as possible

                            I am cool with a

                            Bleday(Jax RF)
Nunez(Moves Osiris to CF or 2B as Nunez is sticking at SS)
                            Wallner(Jupiter RF/1B)

I would take BBA who will sign in Rd 3 then College C in Rd 4.

With Bleday, I think I'd rather go after one of those Arizona infielders Quintana or Cannon. I do like Wallner, though.

They probably go Josh Smith IF LSU in Rd 2. I prefer 2 power bats myself with Wallner/Toglia around and then Rd 3 go for a College MIF like Quintana/Cannon/Strumpf/Holland

Just note there is ALOT of smoke with Marlins and Hunter Bishop. I still think they go Bleday but wouldn't be surprising to see Bishop

Right now its hard to mock because so many options.

                                Best option is
                                Bleday
                                Nunez
                                Wallner
                                Strumpf
                                College C

                                Might happen
                                Bishop
                                Nunez
                                Hunter Barco
                                BBA(Regardless of position)
                                College C
HS guys instead of Easy signs later like Cade Doughty/DJ Herz

Whatever they do its obvious what the system needs. College Bats who can be in AA/Hi A Next Year and HS Arms for Rookie Ball
