It also should be noted that Mesa Jr. is only 21 years old in AA. His minor league numbers aren't great before this year, but he's been young for his level and spent a lot of time in Jupiter.

its pretty remarkable that he was a complete after thought just hanging on his brother's coat tails when they signed them and now mesa jr is a relatively decent prospect and VVM just flat out stinks. Idk what level VVM is even at at this point.

they've got to bring burdick up soon. Garcia has been stinking it up and burdick is clearly ready to at least try the big league level. He's not only hitting hr's, he's absolutely demolishing baseballs. He hit one with like 116 or 117 exit velocity and just hit a ball out of the entire ballpark today. Today's was 420 feet and 114 mph off the bat.

36.5% whiff rate, .469 BABIP. But that's not a lot of balls in play because he has 8 HR and a billion strikeouts. So he is probably over achieving 3-4 singles assuming he is hitting everything hard.

The whiffs are insane. Garcia looks to be terrible, but I think seeing if you can figure out how to get Burdick to stop whiffing so much is better for Burdick before throwing him to the wolves.

Burdick, like Jesus Sanchez, appears to be a classic AAAA outfielder. Slug it in AAA and get overmatched in majors. There was a lot of that in Lewin Diaz too. I will say this for Burdick, as an overall player I like him better than De La Cruz.

First man up from Jumbo Shrimp should be Hinojosa IMO.

I've been a Burdick fan from day one, but it's too many strikeouts. Would he probably be better than Garcia? Sure a wet towel would be better than Garcia, but I still wouldn't foresee a ton of success for Burdick at the big league level if he got called up now.

Burdick, Sanchez, and DLC all share one thing in common - they need to whiff 25% the time. They will all be pretty solid or better if they can do that as they hit the ball really hard. DLC is probably the only one that can do this as he has a better hit tool and has shown this already.

But, I think we're hoping Burdick turns into a Jordan Luplow (.832 career OPS vs LHP) who plays enough defense to be a good platoon option with Sanchez, who could do the inverse and do just enough against RHP. Sanchez being a .750+ OPS guy against righties (which is his career rate to note), and Burdick .800+ against lefties turns into a real solid platoon. Likewise, I think that is what we hope DLC does, a higher .700 OPS sort of thing. The median OF production last year in baseball was a .714 OPS (that was Atlanta's team OF OPS!) so I mean, that all plays if they can do it. Especially at their low salaries for years.

                RHP - DLC - Jazz - Sanchez
                LHP - Burdick - Jazz/DLC - Garcia

That works on paper in theory for me, but they'll need two larger upgrades at 1B/DH and SS longterm. Or a better defender than DLC and DLC gets kicked to DH absent a few Jazz off days against lefties.

You can sign me up for that starting tomorrow until July 20th and see what happens. But the probably owe it to Yuli to give him a few more weeks before the shiny new Burdick object replaces him. Garcia is just deadweight right now, but there is so much payroll there they have to just keep him for a bit probably and hope its a SSS to open the year.

He looks exactly like he did for a whole year last year.

Not disagreeing, but money component buys him some time. Assuming Burdick in minors, I would do

RHP DLC - Jazz - Sanchez
LHP Soler - Jazz/DLC (this is heavier to DLC also 2/3rds the time) - Garcia (Yuli DH)

Give Sanchez a full month and see if some time off helps Garcia, etc. Likewise with Jazz, give him some breathers against lefties as it's really really bad right now. Let Burdick try and figure out how to whiff under 30% in AAA.

Basically just play Sanchez more than Garcia and pray, and then maybe when Wendle is back were talking Berti in the OF over both of them. Which is likely what is going to happen.

                      • Bryan Hoeing has been good in AAA this year, have to think he's the guy who gets the call if Rogers goes on the DL.

i believe he will be. rogers next scheduled start is the same day as Hoeing. I dont think eury would be great initially, but if it's just for a few starts if the rogers injury isnt super serious, i wouldnt mind bringing him up for some experience then sending him down to AAA to work on things until the service time issues are gone.

                            Nope, 30 pounds lighter.

                            • Id imagine Eury goes to AAA when hoeing gets called up. He has nothing left to prove in AA.

                              • xavier edwards has had a really nice start to the year. Looks back to where he was 2 years ago when he was a top 100 guy so far. If he can pan out, he is a 2b so you can put arraez at 1b and the 2 of them at the top of a lineup could be really nice.
