  • If I'm not mistaken, it's five years after you last played. So Maddux and Thomas played through 2008, therefore they would be eligible in the January 2014 ballot. I do not know if minors time sets you back. If so, then Glavine would be eligible in January, 2015.

    • The Yankee fan in my office hates the Nick Johnson signing saying he sucked the first time he was with them. He then praised Curtis Granderson.

          • Obama isn't a bad baseball player that I love.

            Your analogy fails.

I don't think that's right. Rickey Henderson never announced his retirement...?

                • The injured Wang to the Natinals.. Hopefully he continues his trend of being hurt. Don't want him pitching against us!

                    • When asked if Stephen Strasburg's stuff compared to Justin Verlander's, Pudge responded by saying that it compares more to Nolan Ryan's.

                      Pretty high praise

Yikes... I wonder if he also has that infamous control issue of Ryan's... admittedly, I don't know much about Strasburg besides Boras, throwing hard and bad mechanics

Well, I find that to be skewed when you can literally just consistently blow people away like he did.

Not saying it'd be horrendous, but ML hitters are definitively better than NCAA hitters...

                            • Well, yeah. He wasn't playing that high of a level of competition, so most of those guys had never seen anything like him and were completely overmatched.

But still, he probably doesn't have terrible control.

                              • The really intriguing thing to me about Straus is that he pitched on 7 days rest in college (Gwynn really used kid gloves), going every 5th day is going to be a TREMENDOUS adjustment for him.
