Pujolsapalooza: Multiple Reports - 10 Year Contract with Angels

The other thing that bothers me about the comparisons to Tom Hicks is that, with Hicks, the Rangers already had revenue streams coming from the ballpark and banked on new, unconventional streams paying off. With the Marlins, we're getting things, parking, luxury suites, naming rights, that are not unconventional. If the Marlins really believe that 35,000 a night is real (and just based on Reyes and a healthy Hanley, I'd have to believe it is) this is entirely possible to fund just off what we expect in terms of suites, hot dogs and parking (crazy to think we got no money off these things). You bring Pujols into the fold, the unconventional marketing pays for him by himself.

If they do sign him to this 10 year deal, it's clearly a business decision. Having a name like Pujols will almost automatically sell out your stadium on a day to day basis. That's not even including Hanley, Reyes, and Stanton which are massive stars.
Come to think of it, it makes sense that they haven't announced any stadium naming deals yet. With the team the way it is now, they'll be able to get a lot more money for the naming rights than they could have a couple months ago.
