Marlins exact offer isn't known but person in know said it is "pennies" ahead in grand scheme. Believed to be $200-220M, no more

          • That's about the 4th time in the last 12 hours people have thought it was over and the Cards resigned him but no news has come out about that. Wait and see.

Cardinals have to pay Pujols about $1.1M more per yr to match same offer from Marlins due to tax differences (via @SportsTaxMan)

              I know, I’m just a tremendous pessimist.

Marlins have believed that if bids similar, Pujols stays in STL. Called it "statue effect." If he stays, gets statue next to Stan Musial.

                    Let's have a little hope
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

Marlins-cardinals battle isn't over yet, but feeling is st. Louis is the favorite. Cards meeting w/ albert agent this a.m.

When the smoke clears, and Pujols' 10-year contract is finalized, he should earn between $215 and $225 milion.

                      • Schedule another meeting with Buehrle's people.

                        • It's so easy to be a reporter, yesterday the Marlins were the favorites today the Cards are. It's easier than being a meteorologist.

                          • Well, to be fair to the idiots, the Cardinals did raise their offer.

Of course, in reality, they've always been the favorites.

                            • I think the favorite is just going to be whoever is meeting with the agent at that time.

But hey, this is the best baseball move that we can do. If this doesn't happen, let's move forward and get ourselves some pitching.

Anyone think they go after Fielder is they don't land Pujols? Fielder will make more baseball sense, and it frees up some money to go get Buehrle and you can make a trade for another SP.
