Am I the only one not really sold on Diaz's ability to hit at the MLB level? Essentially all of his offensive production, particularly XBH, came in the last 50 games with a very high BABIP and mediocre K/BB #s. Not saying he wont produce, just that with his poor defense limiting him to 2B he almost has to consistently hit like he did the last 50 games at New Orleans to be a viable long term MLB starter.

I am not saying he didn't earn the callup, he did, just that I think it is fair to be more cautious.

he's not poor defensively, he just wasnt a SS as he was when he came up to start his minor league career. He's actually supposedly pretty good at 2b.

Of course there's doubt. Dean is the better hitter at AA/AAA and couldn't put it together at Miami. We'll just have to wait and see.

That fricking interview as Diaz hit that homer was magic. Moment of the year.

Dugger will be fine, I never thought he factored into a future rotation for us anyway, but this is not the last of his time in the majors, kid just got called up to AAA and was struggling, he would've figured it out at the AAA level, just bad timing for the call up.

Isan takes a fastball right down the middle. What else would he be looking for on a full count? Too bad.

Cooper has certainly hit the skids.

Now Alcantara. I keep looking for improvement but it just doesn't happen. His fastball sweeps up and right, out of the zone, over and over. He's never been able to contain that.

Sandy Alcantara: maybe a reliever in 2021

Sandy Alcantara is the type of guy who would go to the Astros and start pitching well.

Unfortunately, the Marlins don’t develop players like that.

choosing alcantara as our lone all star this year still is one of the weirder things this year. we didnt have a ton of guys who were all star worthy but we certainly had a number of guys who were more worthy than him.

Sandy has put away stuff, no idea why his strikeout rate continues to be awful. I wish we were better at analytics.

agreed. just based on our pitching depth and when it will likely reach the majors id give him next year as a full time rotation piece and then if we dont see improvements in the ability to put away batters then you transition him to a late inning bullpen guy.
