aka the Jayson Werth move. It is the type of deal that gave the Nationals legitimacy.

I'm not saying whether it is the right move to do or not. I'm just saying there is precedent in this kind of decision.

That is the type of stuff that turns you into a winner. It's the type of chances that the Cubs and Astros did to get to where they are.
At some point you gotta hold on to your good players. For this trade in particular, I'm leaning toward the reward being worth the risk since our time table for being good is and has been 2021.

They have to follow up these calculated risks with prospects with Free Agent spending, though. I agree with lou get Gerrit Cole to Miami. A potential Cole-Smith-Sixto-Cabrera rotation in 2021 could be one of the best in baseball I truly believe that.

I actually forgot to list Sierra. Basically a potential future replacement for Ozuna (at least he was supposed to be).

He is perfect 4/5th OF as #26 guy. Out of options next year

I agree he's the perfect 26th man. Still that's not going to provide a ton of overall value.

I definitely believe this...but this isn't the time, and Gallen isn't the guy. Gallen, in his expected future potential, is an additional piece to a playoff team, not the marquee.

While Chisholm has struggled this year, his upside is in the area of the marquee guy on a playoff team. You have to take chances like that.

Not me. Should I go find the posts where I wanted Didi?

                    • Best part about this trade is people in Jax don't have to watch either Justin Twine or Joe Dunand anymore

                      • I don’t like the deal. This organization loves athletes with terrible plate discipline. It’s really risky.

Agreed, I want this to happen too. Not holding my breath, though.

                          • Jazz's best stretch in his pro career is supported by a .400+ BABIP while sporting a 33% K rate and 5% BB rate.

Jazz has drawn a ton of walks this year, the K-rate is scary though I agree. I do think he's already a better power hitter at 21 than Harrison and Brinson have been in their minor league careers and they've had pretty decent power #'s in the minors.

All true...but his slugging was basically .600, which even with a shitty OBP would've put him at a star .900 OPS level.

I think the strikeout rates we are just going to have to accept as a new baseball mentality thing. Teams are leaning into accepting strikeouts in exchange for higher power rates. Chisholm also has a solid walk rate this season.

If he keeps up his current walk rate in 2019 and even gets halfway to his A+ level for hitting, he's a star.
